Wisdom is one of the six ability scores.
Wisdom reflects how attuned you are to the world around you, representing perception, intuition, and empathy.
Wisdom Checks
A Wisdom check might reflect efforts like the following:
- Read body language
- Notice deception
- Discern true intentions behind a lie or false front
- Understand someone's feelings
- Care for an injured person
- Intuit an beast's intentions
- Predict someone's next move
- Forecast the weather without instruments
- Get a hunch or "gut" reading that points in the right direction in the absence of evidence
As the nature of perception is often passive, Wisdom checks are among the less common of the six abilities.
Wisdom Saves
In one of the larger departures in PSR, a Wisdom save is made exclusively for effects that can be overcome with sharp senses and perception. They are made to notice hidden objects and creatures, notice a pickpocket, or discern a trap.
If a d20 roll is used to determine turn order in an encounter, it is typically a Wisdom save.
Wisdom DC
Your Wisdom DC equals: 8 + PB + Wisdom modifier.
If you cast spells through faith or ki, saves against them are made against your Wisdom DC.
Attack and Damage Rolls
You can add your Wisdom modifier to your attack roll and your damage roll when you attack with a weapon that has the precise property, such as a slingshot or firearm. Precise weapons are always ranged.
If you make an attack using ki or a spell cast through faith, you add your Wisdom modifier to the attack roll alongside your PB, but no modifier is added to the damage.
