Variant Figurines of Wondrous Power

After seeing the 5e SRD talk:Figurine of Wondrous Power, I had an idea to create a page for additional figurines of wondrous power. What would a good title for the page be? My first idea was "Variant Figurines of Wondrous Power", but I feel it can be shortened a little. Any ideas? SirSprinkles (talk) 17:18, 18 February 2017 (MST)

I would favour "More Figurines of Wondrous Power" or "Figurines of Wondrous Power, Extended". Don't be afraid of long titles! Marasmusine (talk) 01:20, 19 February 2017 (MST)

Vampire, Variant (5e Class)

Someone keeps editing the class I wrote up and is not responding to messages I have sent them. The edit he is doing are overpowering the class which I have been balancing and play testing for a couple of months now could you please lock the page for me so I can continue to fix and balance the class and if people want to give feedback in the discussion part of the class they are welcome to, I don't want to see this class enter the unbalanced section of the wiki after I have put so much work into it. http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Vampire,_Variant_(5e_Class)

Hopefully you can get onto this issue soon, thanks again for all your hard work Marasmusine. Regards --Vladmere.Labefactum (talk) 03:42, 21 February 2017 (MST)

I've semi-protected the page. Confirmed editors can still edit it. It's on a wiki, so you need to be prepared for other people editing it, but the idea is that an established editor would discuss controversial changes on the talk page. Marasmusine (talk) 07:53, 21 February 2017 (MST)

Crossbow, Hand Repeating (5e Equipment)

Crossbow, Hand Repeating (5e Equipment) im just planning on removing the variant and multi shot capabilities and replacing it with short burst (2). on the properties section i just messed up. Ninjablade46 (talk) 10:35, 21 February 2017 (MST)

Rolling 20s

Hey mara ive taken to reading the DMG lately and on some of the magic items (i.e. vorpal sword) it says that if you roll a 20 the effect takes place. Dose that inclcude modifiers or is that for me to decide? Bannanameds (talk) 15:23, 21 February 2017 (MST)

That refers to a 20 (or 19 or so on) on the die, not counting modifiers. SirSprinkles (talk) 17:03, 21 February 2017 (MST)

Adventure Path

I found a couple of old Dungeon magazines that had adventures from the Shackled City Adventure Path. Has anyone tried to update it to 5e? --209.97.85.48 16:57, 22 February 2017 (MST)

Not that I know of. You couldn't reproduce any of the text anyway, just provide conversion for the mechanics, 5e is easy enough that you could do this on the fly anyway. Marasmusine (talk) 02:07, 23 February 2017 (MST)
I could be mistaken, but didn't WotC release some sort of guide for converting older edition adventures to 5e? I can't find it right now, but if I do, I'll give you the link.--GamerAim (talk) 09:03, 23 February 2017 (MST)
Mostly, I was interested in the Demon Prince. --209.97.85.48 16:49, 1 March 2017 (MST)

Wrong page header

Hey, I managed to fudge up and place Em here into the (3.5e Creature) instead of the correct (3.5e NPC) - can that be changed? Thanks and/or sorry in advance! Cancelion (talk) 13:55, 23 February 2017 (MST)

Em (3.5e NPC). Marasmusine (talk) 13:57, 23 February 2017 (MST)
Big thanks! Cancelion (talk) 14:00, 23 February 2017 (MST)

After reviewing your tips on the Discussion i've fixed what you had written, could you overview the page for me?

New Illusion Spells

I wasn't sure if you would see my response on my talk page so i've decided to put it here, Ok i'll make sure to do this, and they are all from an outside source, I myself haven't made the spells, i've just put them on the wiki, for the spells from older editions, i'll state the edition that had it, as well as the source I got it from, should I provide a link to the source (which by the way is, "The (Not really) Complete Tome of Spells") or not. Also the reason I hadn't added the breadcrumbs is because i'm a little bit confused as to how to do that, could you either help me with understanding how to do that, or send me a link with instructions. As for the spells that are like the PHB spells i'll make sure to look through and see which ones are the same and get rid of them. Thanks for your time in helping improve the wiki.

Ghoul Class edit

Uh i edited the ghoul class but im not the original owner, should i just make a new class and put (variant) or just send you what i got and see what you say?

Since the Ghoul page needs rewriting anyway, just go ahead and edit it, I'm sure you can't do any worse. Marasmusine (talk) 12:45, 28 February 2017 (MST)

Ravenloft Revisited

Is there a Werebat or a Werevulture? --209.97.85.48 16:51, 1 March 2017 (MST)

What is your OPINION on a Ravenloft Antihero Background? --Redrum 16:57, 1 March 2017 (MST)

There is a werebat, but not a werevulture. You could easily adapt the wereagle stats to create a werevulture. SirSprinkles (talk) 17:53, 1 March 2017 (MST)

I have no opinion on a Raveloft Antihero Background, except to say it doesn't sound like a background. Marasmusine (talk) 01:20, 2 March 2017 (MST)
I was trying to go for a twisted version of the Folk Hero background. --Redrum 00:15, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Blood mage (5e archetype)

Hi Mara!

This is about the sorcerer archetype blood mage. You've put the class in the unbalanced section because of two reasons.

The first one is that it does not work with multiclassing. If we add a tooltip that says you can't multiclass in any other spellcasting class, i don't see where there would be a problem as it would be down to a player choice.

The second was "has all the usual problem in using hp as ressource". Would you be able to enlighten me as to what are those problem? I chnaged the hit die to d10 which makes that if a player cast the same number of spell than a regular sorcerer, He looses about half his health, so he would still have half of his health to block damage. I've also gave the class a way to recover hp in fight, making it still interactive when low on hp (Bloodbending attack to slash damage followed by Blood Siphon).

I've also put a restriction on powerful spell not to spammed: They cost way more hp. This is made so the player cannot spam them, and if he does, he'll really be a glass canon as his hp if gonna quickly drop.

So if we put a warning at the beginning of the description saying that it is a really risky class to use as hit point are the spellcasting resource to make sure that the player knows what he going into, would we still need to brand this class as unbalanced?

Thank you for you time :P

RichardCQC

Because of the various ways hit points can be restored. Let's say I'm 10th level with a Con of 16: I have 94 hit points. If I'm prepared to go down to half hit points, If I'm reading "A spell of first level cost you 1 hit point, a spell of second level cost you 2 hit points, and so on" correctly, I can cast 47 1st-level spells, or 23 2nd-level spells, or 11 3rd-level spells. That itself is pretty ridiculous, I had to read the paragraph several times to make sure I wasn't missing something, but I don't know how else to interpret it.
I drink a 50 gp potion of healing, and regain 7 hit points, enough for another 7 1st level spells, 3 2nd level spells or 2 3rd level spells. Or the party cleric cures me. Or I take a short rest. Or I have another class feature that gives me limited regeneration, and so. Marasmusine (talk) 08:57, 2 March 2017 (MST)
It's also not clear how it works with the Font of Magic sorcerer feature. Flexible casting turns spell slots into sorcery points and visa versa, so does this not work at all now? Marasmusine (talk) 09:01, 2 March 2017 (MST)
My constructive criticism is to use hit dice as the resource instead. Keep spell slots and HD as they are normally. Marasmusine (talk) 09:25, 2 March 2017 (MST)

Hello again Mara.
First of all, thank you for your feedback on the blood mage archetype. You were totally right on what you said about its balance.
The thing is I really like the idea of using hp to fuel spell, so i would like to successfully balance it while still having to spend hit points to cast. I've totally refactored the way the spellcasting worked for the archetype to balance the issues you pointed out in your last comment.
Now, A level 10 blood mage can only cast 10 level 1 spell without spending more than half his hit points.
Also, spending the exact amount of spell slots a normal sorcerer can would cost 76 hit points to the blood mage, And all subsequent spells would cost way more hp.
Would you be kind enough to review it quickly and evalute its balance once more?
Thanks anyway,
RichardCQC
If you're still going to drop spell slots, you should look at the spell points variant in the DMG (p 288). This will give you the correct scaling of (anything) points to spell level. Have the HPs become spell points. I'm still opposed to using hit points directly, as a resource it is unpredictable. It's safer to just to have the player expend a hit die and convert the result into spell points, it has the same effect of reducing what hit points are available to the player, but hit dice can only be restored with a long rest. Marasmusine (talk) 13:11, 2 March 2017 (MST)
I happen to be going through magic items at the moment, and I note that there is a ring of regeneration. Although very rare, it gives the wearer 1d6 hit points every 10 minutes. Marasmusine (talk) 14:03, 2 March 2017 (MST)
I am not dropping the spell slot, after all! And 1d6 health per 10 minute doesn't even let the player cast an additionnal level 1 spell per 10 minutes.
I will of course look through what you proposed with the spell points and hit dice and edit the archetype if needed.
Thanks again a lot for the feedback! :)
You're welcome, I will probably look at it more closely another time. Marasmusine (talk) 15:10, 2 March 2017 (MST)

hi

I saw in the edit page of Veatis that you did something to it b/c i cant tell

I rated it 1 out of 5 (for completeness) and made a note that it didn't actually contain anything yet. Marasmusine (talk) 12:57, 2 March 2017 (MST)

Protecting a Class

Would it be possible to prevent edits to only me and admins in regards to the Healer as I have had to not once, not twice but three times making the exact that revision to the class. The edit being that someone wants to make the class give at will actions that restore hit points which breaks not only the class building guidelines on the wiki but the game itself when determining hit point mechanics. --Roteton Kin (talk) 06:29, 3 March 2017 (MST)

I've semi-protected the page so that anonymous IPs can't edit it. Marasmusine (talk) 09:07, 3 March 2017 (MST)

Battle Medic Varient

Hay Thanks for commenting on battle Medic ya i guess me and my friend did go a little over board with ability we just wanted a class others would enjoy playing while also filling some healing. Anyway i would love to hear how to correct it a little so its balanced as much as it can be. Would you suggest removing ability's or simple moving them down. Also thank you once more for redoing arcane puppeteer sorry i haven't said anything on it lately i have been rather busy with collage related stuff anyway thanks for your time. Shadowthehero

Is this Battle Medic (5e Class)? I'll reply on the talk page there. Marasmusine (talk) 08:47, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
I should be the one apologizing, I should be adding more puppets, I've been waiting for inspiration to hit me, and I'm still trying to determine how powerful legendary puppets should be. Marasmusine (talk) 09:09, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

o No its the one i made with my friend based on that class this one https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Battle_Medic_Variant_(5e_Class) We wanted to make out own battle medic because we saw the original class as a weaker cleric in every way and wanted to make a healer/fighter ish class that would be fun to use. and dont worry about the puppet in truth i added a few in the talk page but am not fully sure myself how powerful you want puppets to be. If you do need help i think i have a few more ideas i can put to maybe help kickstart your inspiration --Shadowthehero (talk) 20:28, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Well, like I say at the top of the page, it's got too many features. Marasmusine (talk) 21:33, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello Mara well i took your advice and me and my friend decided to change and update the Variant and try to re-balance it a little. We Removed an ability and moved around others to areas that hopefully work better a swell as making the class a half-caster. I would enjoy when you have the time of course to re look at it and give us any feedback and if its ready to go back to the normal classes. --Shadowthehero (talk) 21:34, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Categorizing 5e ritual spells

How should 5e ritual spells be organized? Craftsmanship (5e Spell) seems to do it more elegantly, in that it doesn't create weird categories like Category:Conjuration (ritual) School. However, there's only a handful of spells which use this method, and they're all homebrew.

I'll be happy to correct all homebrew spells to the method used in Craftsmanship (5e Spell), but I want to confirm that's the way it's intended to be before I go off making wanton widespread edits. — Guy (talk | edits) 07:37, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

The "ritual=yes" field is the correct way. What happened is, I forgot to put the field in the preload! And the correct category is Category:Ritual Tag (automatically done if the ritual field is used). Fix any spells that you come across, thanks. Marasmusine (talk) 08:41, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Your Fiverr Gig

Hey Marasmusine! I couldn't help but notice that you unpaused your fiverr gig. Do you mind if I contact you in regards to a monster idea that I have? Clockwerk66 (talk) 12:26, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

It was interesting to do - demon version coming up next. Marasmusine (talk) 22:44, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
Awesome work on the demon version Mara! :D Clockwerk66 (talk) 18:52, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
Is there anything missing that should be added? I opted not to go for a legendary version because I didn't know enough about the game to determine what the regional effects might be. Marasmusine (talk) 18:55, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
Well, I guess Kurt Zisa doesn't REALLY need any legendary stuff, so I don't really think we have anything missing at this point. If it DID have any regional effects, then I suppose they would probably be similar to those of the blue chromatic dragons, but maybe with sandstorms instead of thunderstorms. Clockwerk66 (talk) 20:42, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
I've paid for the gig you did for me, assuming you haven't already seen it. Thanks again! Clockwerk66 (talk) 05:20, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Weapons of Sin

Could you (or Someone) do a 5e version of Weapons of Sin? --209.97.85.48 21:11, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Weapons of Sin (3.5e Equipment)? Looks doable, but I would only do so on commission as I have a lot on my plate at the moment. Marasmusine (talk) 21:13, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
I'm not going to say that I'm not interested but why now? --Redrum 21:35, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Parrying dagger.2

thanks to the reviev i have changed it now since its kinda op maybe this is better could you look over it ?

Parrying dagger.2

Thanks for the reviev again i changed some things do you think this is good now the parrying dagger now only needs 14 dex and an weapon that got both light and fitness properties. if you dont met the prerequisites it just counts as an weaker dagger doing 1D2 dmg. thaks for the help keep the work up :D

If you must have an ability score prerequisite, make it odd-numbered (probably 13). It is unnecessary, training in a weapon is already represented with proficiency, now you have two things representing skill with the weapon. Marasmusine (talk) 09:14, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

The Book of Vile Darkness

Good morning Maramusine. Im trying to work out a few spells for the Book of Vile Darkness and im running dry on ideas. Any suggestions for me? Bannanameds (talk) 14:08, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

If you do a web search for "3.5e book of vile darkness spells" you'll find various sites that list the spells from that book. Marasmusine (talk) 14:19, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip mara. I was thinking about making my own spells for it as per the 5e DMG. Something about sacrificing a virgin girl and permantly raising your hit point maximum by 50. Also one that drives the subject mad or kills them. Something like the abyssal corruption and shadowfell despair optional rules. And maybe an AOE version of the Blight spell. That creates the blight creature or gulthias tree as well. Bannanameds (talk) 16:32, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Well that first one is better than an epic boon. Marasmusine (talk) 16:43, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Yeahhh. Upon reading the spells from the book of vile darkness i think ill just adapt them to 5e. Bannanameds (talk) 16:52, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Supplementals

Hey mara i just ordered the PHB for myself and i was wondering if there were any supplemental rulebooks for 5e. Is there? And if there are what would they be? Bannanameds (talk) 22:57, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

I don't have any myself except for the free stuff (Unearthed Arcana articles, Player's Companion)
The rest are listed at http://dnd.wizards.com/products/catalog

A page has been Vandalised

I am here to report that the 5e Homebrew Race 'Undercreature' has been vandalised to the point where the main race section has been completely broken. The link to the page is here: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/UnderCreature_(5e_Race)

I tried to fix it to the best of my ability...
