User:Blue Dragon/Pages Needing Attention

Following are style issues that need attention:

  1. DPLs appear to have several problems. As visible on 5e Homebrew counts are cut off at 500. Most or all DPL lists are no longer alphabetically ordered (e.g., 5e Subclasses, 5e Cantrips).
  2. Tables have wrong colors
  3. Top bar looks bad
  4. Margins are not uniform for side panel
  5. Some namespaces have CSS that is not working well, e.g., PFSRD:Pathfinder_System_Reference_Document has issues with the titles and the margins
  6. Footers should have a background color
  7. Spammers sprung up
  8. Stub templates (example) no longer as distinguishable from overall page content (missing background, border?). Borders still show up normally on Help:Improving, Reviewing, and Removing Templates
    1. I think pages with the design note template (Template:Design Note) are going through the same display issues as pages with the Stub template. 2601:285:4100:14B0:79D1:B219:2347:F64E 08:45, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
  9. Email
  10. When editing a page, the "This is a Minor Edit" and "Watch this Page" check boxes are invisible.
  11. Can no longer at a glance tell if a page has a existing discussion page (previously, the discussion/talk tab link was red if said talk page did not exist, blue if it did).
  12. Pages set for list view, i.e. https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/User_Races get cut off partly through the list with no continuance into other segments of the list. Table view seems fine though.
    1. Can you help me understand the problem better? I am not following. — Blue Dragon (talk) 15:16, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
    2. I believe this issue was fixed alongside the DPL issue. As an aside, I'm impressed with how deftly and swiftly these are being resolved. - Guy 22:07, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the kind words! — Blue Dragon (talk) 00:25, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
  1. When editing, the button to sign your post (Signature icon.png) doesn't show up in the top bar.
  2. Please fix the misalignment of the "last edited" and license bar on the bottom of pages. It's incredibly obnoxious. See: Misaligned.png I made a dandwiki account because I do not like the formatting changes and need to complain about it (talk) 17:48, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Commentary:

  • Just change it back I like how it was before and now it's messing with me. At least add the option to if that is possible.
I wish it was possible. Sadly, it is not. The old skin had a huge number of hacks and broken things that just could not make the move from MediaWiki 1.35 (which has security vulnerabilities and is not supported) to 1.39. Instead, maybe you can help make the skin better? — Blue Dragon (talk) 18:25, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
  • If we are looking for commentary, some empty space on the right side makes it much easier to read. When the website is so centered to the right, it's really comfortable. I use the Wiki pretty frequently on both PC and mobile and it just makes it strange. Not against the update, but I'm pretty sure there was some space on the side in the past it'd be nice if this was possible on the update. Glad we're updating though. - DODODUDE, 01:20, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
I second this. This is actually a nitpick I've had for a while. As this wiki often portrays content designed for PDF files or print-page width, a narrower look would better capture that style. Wikipedia has much narrower pages, too.[1] - Guy 01:08, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
I prefer a wider view, perhaps it ought to be a setting in preferences? Notably, Wikipedia has a setting for wider or narrower pages.--Nuke The Earth (talk) 03:25, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
How narrow are you thinking? Matching the width of the left side bar, or instead centering the whole thing and keeping it within x pixels? — Blue Dragon (talk) 15:18, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
Personally I would prefer a look as narrow as Wikipedia's. But to compromise with those like Nuke the Earth, I think at minimum there should be a margin on the right equal to the margin on the left. DODODUDE's right; it feels off-balance otherwise. - Guy 22:07, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, the top bar looks about the same on desktop. Throws me off too. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 21:44, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
Great feedback. If someone knows a good fix that would look nicer, please propose it / suggest code or CSS changes. I will also try to make it look better somehow, potentially by decreasing the height. Note that this is derived from the "Legacy" vector skin: [2]Blue Dragon (talk) 00:25, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Following are pages that need attention after the recent update:

  1. 5e_SRD:Cleric
  2. DnD_Discussion
  3. 5e Humanoid Races
  4. God_of_Death_(3.5e_Prestige_Class)
  5. Butterfly_Frenzy_(5e_Spell)
    1. Is this fixed now? — Blue Dragon (talk) 00:25, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
      1. I think the issue with this spell (Butterfly Frezny), is that some of its description, such as duration, doesn't show up. Woahluigi (talk) 16:39, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
