Please feel free to re-nominate it once it meets the FA criteria and when all the major issues brought up in this nomination have been dealt with.
  • Support I think he is a good moon god, and could be a good campaign hook. I am the person who created Aalar, so i'm pretty significant.
  • Comment Without links and an image, this will not succeed the nomination. I also feel that the content is there, but it's just the bones to something more that it should be. --Green Dragon (talk) 12:27, 11 April 2023 (MDT)
  • Oppose Deity writing/editing is far from my specialty, but this seems like a fairly generic moon god without much interesting "flair" in the lore to warrant a FA nomination. It'll require some extensive editing to up the uniqueness and quality. Salasay 12:45, 30 May 2023 (MDT)
  • Comment Be aware that the bulk of the text of this article [1] comes from my asking the Playground AI by OpenAI to expand on the original text. This was just an experiment to see what would happen, to see if abandoned stub articles can be made more useful. And Salasay noticed it: this is generic text without interesting "flair" (without very specific prompts, AI writes very vanilla text, although LLMs gradually getting better at creative writing). Personally I'm uncomfortable with a mostly AI-written page being an FA. (I don't mind if the AI was used as a tool to do smaller tasks like checking grammar/improving wording). In fairness to the 980010819, they did go back in and adjust some of the wording to better suit their original concept. If this can be done further the FA nomination can be revisited. • Oppose: It doesn't evoke much feeling when the first sentence is "Aalar is the evil god of the Moon." Perhaps I have been spoiled with more flowery language in other forms of writing fantasies, but I guess that's a fair judgment when it comes to the fact that 5e Deities are ALL about flourish and lore. The use of werewolves coupled with necromancy and worshippers among undead and aberrations sounds very hodgepodge when you read it a few times. Why would aberrations worship this guy? He also sounds more of pure darkness than light, though reconciling these aspects might make for some interesting writing. One of the things that might have made this feel more unique and complete is if the magic items weren't so... well, bland and generic. The small bits of FR lore sprinkled in are alright, but the temple is like a participation prize. It is AI-written so that makes sense. It's filled up for the sake of filling up, but it's also not particularly unique. The point of an FA is to achieve something special, beyond just being generic enough to use at any old table (those would be QAs I guess?), and this might be too generic either way.--Yanied (talk) 21:12, 11 January 2024 (MST)

Closing this nomination. Concensus is oppose. If the OP or other contributors work to improve the article, the Featured Article nomination can be revisited in future. There's also the potential for Quality Article nomination if the article is "good enough" to be used in a game. Marasmusine (talk) 01:32, 12 January 2024 (MST)
