Talk:Mammothodon (5e Race)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

This race is overpowered with a plethora of traits that I don't think it even really needs. Using the meter:

  • ASI (0.5)
  • Large size (1)
  • Keen Smell (0.33x3)
  • Trunk (0.33)
  • Tusks (0.33)
  • Stand Aside (0.5)
  • E. Memory (0.33)
  • Wooly (0.33)
  • Thick Hide (1)
  • Bulk (0.33)
  • Stampede (1.5)
  • Arctic Scout (0.5)
  • Languages (0.25)

For a whopping total of 7.89. As a reference, few first party races in the PHB even get over 3.
Many of the proficiencies and conditional advantages could be removed. The Stampede is a combo with Stand Aside, which is very odd as a trait. It is better to be used as a feature or even made into a racial feat. The hide on this creature is tougher than that of a loxodon's, and it has a lot more with its superior size and number of traits.--Yanied (talk) 13:46, 1 November 2020 (MST)

not gonna lie I thought it'd be able to move a lil faster just based on it's size and strength. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JustaPerson (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Movement speed is a very important part of balance. Large player characters already have a plethora of issues with balance, and making them faster as well would only intensify that issue. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 16:37, 1 February 2021 (MST)

Edit War[edit]

How about we talk about things before, you know, the page gets locked for edit warring? By my perspective, the traits in question are far too powerful for any one race. "But if a DM allows it it's their own fault" is not a defense, nor is "it's made to be unbalanced" --Ref3rence (talk) 12:37, 20 March 2021 (MDT)

I second this notion. --SwankyPants (talk) 12:39, 20 March 2021 (MDT)
