Talk:Zalantar Staff (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

I propose leaving this weapon 'as is' and changing the zalantar gem staff to a 1d4 bludgeoning weapon which does two additional points of damage based on the internal gem. They may look too similar right now but I think it would be good to make them more different from each other, and keep both. Arquebus (talk) 11:24, 19 May 2020 (MDT)

The issue with this isn't that it's better than a QS, because it is, by itself, a middling weapon. The problem is that zalantar could be incorporated into theoretically any weapon, so making it a common/uncommon magic item like other material-based modifications like mithral or adamantine makes far more sense. --Ref3rence (talk) 19:06, 1 November 2020 (MST)
I'm fine with making this a magic item. Its material is sort of magical, even if the construction is mundane, sort of like adamantine armor. Arquebus (talk) 10:27, 17 November 2020 (MST)

This item is, by almost any definition, a magic item, given the +1 to attack rolls.

Cookielink, Needsbalance templates exist for a reason. Templates are not to be removed until the relevant issue has been resolved. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 17:25, 20 November 2020 (MST)
