Back and Better than Ever[edit]

I’m putting this here just to make using this page easier.

Zanpakuto[edit]

The zanpakuto in the equipment section needs to be defined, as it is not a standard equipment piece. If there is not a page to link it to, maybe give a description? Like, they aren't swords and it's not exactly easy to just get one, so that poses a problem for the multiclass section as well. I think you'll have to adapt it to the 5e standard and give them a weapon choice in the equipment and then a class feature to bond to it for that to work.--Yanied (talk) 12:23, 19 September 2019 (MDT)

Whoops, never mind, I see the section above now.--Yanied (talk) 12:31, 19 September 2019 (MDT)

But on that note, there are some things that maaay need addressing:

  • saving throws need changing from two common ones
  • a d12 die is usually reserved for tank classes like Barbarian. This I feel is a d10 class.
  • Odd dead levels; could be fixed easy by not adding features on top of ability score improvements and moving them to dead levels instead
  • Linking stuff and some capitalization issues
  • +4 to three ability scores on top of normal ASI
  • Players don't have CR so Hollowfication needs rewriting

That is about it from a quick skim. I didn't look at the features very deeply--Yanied (talk) 13:05, 19 September 2019 (MDT)

My look as a DM[edit]

  • Bala: Is there a limit to how many Bala shots can be fired? If not, that would break this in half. At level 8 you could potentially deal an average of 300 damage (2d6 averages to 7, +3 dex, and assuming 30 is the maximum for any Reiatsu use = 30*10 average). For reference, THE TARRASQUE has 676 HP, so an 11th level character could kill her in 2 turns (3d6=10.5, 11th should have at least +4 dex, so 30*14.5=435, next turn dump the rest 18*14.5=261. 261+435=696), or only 1 turn if they took an additional 2 levels of fighter to action surge. That shouldn't even be in the realm of possibility. I'd recommend putting a smaller cap, greater cost for extra bullets (Maybe 2 or 3 per extra bullet?) and have the damage die increase (1d6 at 2nd, 1d8 at 5th, 1d10 at 11, and 1d12 at 17th?)
  • Extra Attack is unusual, no other class gets three attacks. I might recommend linking it to the Zanpakuto, but it's not too much.
  • Resurrection: The +2 to Con is unusual, I might recommend making that specifically saves, as otherwise you're adding max hp, which is a mess to deal with increasing in combat. I might also recommend giving some more precise examples for the bonus features, such as 1d6 x damage, or advantage on grapple checks.
  • Resurrection Mastery: If the Con bonus isn't moved to saves, this would add double the PCs level in hp, that's a massive amount of hp. This would be fine without the Con boost.
  • Second Resurrection: I don't get this at all. It says they increase once more, but do you mean it adds to the previous boost? In that case it should simply be written as the increase changing from +2 to +4. However, the way it's written seems like the original boost was meant to be permanent. And what is "a more powerful bonus?" Again, I recommend making a list of appropriate features, or removing it altogether. If you do the latter, Then I would suggest changing this entirely to have you in Resurrection constantly, or simply copying the Barbarian's ability, but with the option of selecting Dex instead of Str.

Subclasses? And other questions[edit]

Hey, all. I've been taking a look at the class, as one of my players wanted to play this in my campaign, and I had some enquiries.

Is the class designed to work without any subclasses? Just from a quick read, it seems that there are some dead levels throughout the class, which could possibly fit some subclass features, if possible.

Secondly, I've noticed that there are quite a few spelling and terminology mistakes throughout the class, if you all wouldn't mind, I would like to comb through these and improve on the grammar and terminology of the class.

And last, how do the ability score bonuses for Resurrection and Second Resurrection affect maximums? Does it temporarily increase the ability score cap of 20 to 22 (or 24, in the case of Second Resurrection)?

Thanks in advance, I'll most likely be working a bit on this class in the upcoming future. Some of the class seems lacklustre, and it could use a little "POW!" and some polishing to some sections. Kiralokiin (talk) 21:05, 14 April 2020 (MDT)

This class was originally built without any subclasses, but if you want to add them, go right ahead. I would be incredibly greatful for cleanup as well, as this page isn’t exactly in the forefront of my projects. Finally, Resurrection was intended to effect maximums, I just wrote this when I wasn’t extremely familiar with 5e mechanics. -Ref3rence (talk) 10:37, 15 April 2020 (MDT)

Not to worry, that's all understandable. I'll have a think about subclasses and all that in the future and start with a simple clean up first. Thanks :) Kiralokiin (talk) 11:15, 15 April 2020 (MDT)

On that note, I added the changes earlier on in the day. Let me know what you all think, and if there are any suggestions. Kiralokiin (talk) 16:55, 16 April 2020 (MDT)

It all looks great. The only thing I could suggest is a subclass system that determines Resurrection's bonuses, but it's really up to you. -Ref3rence (talk) 18:14, 16 April 2020 (MDT)
I can see that working out quite well. We could possibly separate them into categories. For example: A subclass that focuses more on a primal Ressurection, more akin to their Hollow side, one that focuses on improving your Arrancar abilities (such as Cero, Bala, etc..), and something other that I cannot thing of at the moment hahah Kiralokiin (talk) 18:51, 16 April 2020 (MDT)

I had a question, why does ressureccion and segunda etapa drain reiryoku? In bleach, ressureccion lasted until the user sealed the ability again, and i don't belive segunda etapa drained ulqiorra's energy. -The Archmage Karsus

While it is true that neither of those features drain reiryoku in canon, to allow such a massive increase effectively indefinitely is a big no in terms of balance. --Ref3rence (talk) 19:57, 8 January 2021 (MST)

I see, then could I make a custom rule for it to not drain reiryoku? Of course with a warning that it should only be used in select campaigns, maybe something called a more cannon variant, inspired by your madara.

Go for it. --Ref3rence (talk) 20:34, 8 January 2021 (MST)
