You touch two objects weighing 10 pounds or less whose longest dimension is 6 feet or less. The spell leaves an invisible mark on their surfaces.
At any time thereafter while you are holding one of the objects, you can use your action to send a short message of thirty words or less to the other object. For 1 hour, a creature holding the object can use a bonus action to listen to the last message sent. The creature hears the message in its mind, recognizes you as the sender if it knows you, and can answer in a like manner immediately. The spell enables creatures with Intelligence scores of at least 1 to understand the meaning of your message.
You can send the message across any distance and even to other planes of existence, but if the other object is on a different plane than you, there is a 5 percent chance that the message doesn't arrive.
Dispel magic or a similar effect successfully applied to one of the objects ends this spell's effect.
