Talk:Planar Traveler (5e Background)

From D&D Wiki

This background, all in all, is pretty good, through I would like to mention a few needed improvements and a few other suggestions. The only real issue I see with the background is the fact that it only gives 3 learned languages/proficiencies instead of 4 learned languages/proficiencies(maybe add Primordial language?) like all other 1st party backgrounds. Besides that, most standard backgrounds contain a belt pouch with at least 5 gold contained within them, so I would recommend adding that as well to the equipment part of the background.

With those thoughts out of the way, looking at the rest of the background, I like the idea of elementals giving you a chance to talk to other planar creatures, though I think you should add the fact that it only works on intelligent creatures and the suggested characteristics seem to fit the background quite well. In total, a decent background that could use a few fixes here and there.--Blobby383b (talk) 20:29, 21 October 2018 (MDT)

I was going to comment how well this article is and my like for it. Then I see Blobby already reviewed it and it looks the advice was taken (MISS YOU BLOBBY!!) I'd like to review this myself and then I think it may be good enough to go through the Quality Article process :) ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 10:38, 8 February 2019 (MST)

Question about travelling the planes[edit]

Why have you stopped? If you'd been doing it, or had been or at least had the capabilities why did you stop!? lol I would love to travel planes at level 1 and this background you do but then you stop when you become an adventurer??? confused ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 10:41, 8 February 2019 (MST)

Most reasonable explanation I can think of is you somehow lost the ability to. Maybe it was a one-time thing if you're new to it, or maybe you lost the tool/item/whatever that let you plane travel. But those are the only examples that seem reasonable to me. --Arcane (talk) 10:11, 8 March 2019 (MST)
Sorry it took a while for me to respond to this. Yeah what Arcane outlined was what I was thinking, the means of your planar travel was most likely fluke or one time occurrence (the boon of a powerful entity, an ancient artifact, an explosion of magic gone awry, etc.). Potentially it could have been a series of uncontrollable occurences, but besides that other options would have to be discussed between the player and the DM. - Itenen (talk) 14:15, 8 March 2019 (MST)
