Talk:Dark Ones (5e Race)

Howdy, this is the creator of the Dark Ones race, and as said I based them off the Metro species. Sorry for not linking the Radiation rules at first, but I am a bit confused at how Psionic is not a DnD term. I was trying to refer to the class I linked, the Mystics, who have Psionic disciplines. I do not know how to get the picture to work, I'm afraid, and would like to ask if I could get some help balancing the race - 'GusOmega'

Hello Gus, while I do have to say the race is unique it still has a number of problems which had to be addressed which included,
  • Race names are not capitalized
  • The race still needs to somehow use the psi points since you might not be a mystic, and the previous version of this race gave you the equivalent of several levels worth of psi points which is not ok(think giving a bunch of free levels in a full spellcaster)
  • Having a variable amount of distance for you telepathy while in theory is nice, it makes it so you need to keep track of every different telepathy range you have, plus special senses should have a range of 10, 30, 60, or 120 feet.
With these problems fixed, the race should be more usable. Also, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.--Blobby383b (talk) 11:18, 26 March 2018 (MDT)
Some separate questions, why does the race have two telepathys(mind meld and Radioactive Human) and no way to use the psi points gained?--Blobby383b (talk) 13:52, 26 March 2018 (MDT)

Race names in 5e are singular, not plural. SirSprinkles (talk) 14:33, 26 March 2018 (MDT)

See, its based off the Metro franchise. Dark Ones never GET a singular name, and they are treated like a mass. The closest I can think to is a 'Dark One' Furthermore, I was wondering how I would best be able to fix this newest issue... The Dark Ones can not physically TALK, at least I do not believe they do. Its all psionic due to their mouth design. And the Overwhelming psionic is a average of 2 bonus damage, should I make it simply it deals an automatic 1 extra damage for the theme, or just say it doesn't do anything at all cause bonus damage is to much? -GusOmega

Telepathy should be its own trait. "You can communicate mentally with another creature that knows at least one language within a 60 foot radius. This creature doesn't need to share a language with you but unless they have {{5e|telepathy}} themselves they can only receive and respond but can't initiate or terminate a telepathic conversation. You must be conscious to use this trait and cannot telepathically communicate with multiple creatures at once.". Simply removing overwhelming psionics would solve things. Afterward, I'll fix up some none mechanically related issues.--ConcealedLight (talk) 08:55, 2 April 2018 (MDT)
