What is the bonus to hit different armors? Is it supposed to be like an armour piercing effect? Marasmusine (talk) 22:02, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

Yeah it was intended as an armor piercing effect with the idea that with the greater strength of the bow, it can pierce armor to a degree --JMAP94 (talk) 23:10, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

Just realized it won't give any bonuses to natural armor which wouldn't make srsense. Will change.--2604:2000:9902:800:855:4A4:72B8:B7BC 23:36, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

5e doesn't have standard actions. SirSprinkles (talk) 21:00, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

Also, in a fit of irony, this "better for orc" bow will automatically be worse for most of them, as the orc statistics give them a Strength score of 16. SirSprinkles (talk) 21:06, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

One action, standard action, same thing. I still call it standard action because I'm used to 4e and most people I play with or talk to still call it standard action. I build my orcs as pcs in my campaign using the volos pc race, so the minimum strength requirement escaped my mind. So ill drop it to 16. --JMAP94 (talk) 18:33, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

Here's the problem with ability score prerequisites on overpowered weapons. Either you meet the prerequisites or you don't. If you don't meet the prerequisite, the weapon is not worth using. If you do meet the prerequisite, the weapon is overpowered. 08:06, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Why not mirror the Compound Bow for 3.x? It won't penalize those not strong enough and if you have strength, you benefit. Add a little blurb (not property) that if you have 16 Str you ignore light armor, 18 str ignore medium and light, and 20 str ignore any armor worn. I changed it all. The theme is the same (strength based, armour piercing, long range). No messing with actions. Increase the damage if you want, but the rarity would have to go up. Marasmusine (talk) 08:26, 7 March 2020 (MST)
