Fire Baba (5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Medium plant, unaligned
False Appearance. While the baba remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary plant.
Rooted. The fire baba is rooted to the ground. Its base walking speed cannot increase above 0 ft. It has advantage on all saving throws and ability checks to remain in its position. If the baba is forced from its position but not reduced to 0 hit points, it dies at the end of its next turn.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d8) piercing damage plus 5 (1d10) fire damage, and if the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it is grappled (escape DC 12). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the baba cannot bite another target.
Fire Bolt. Ranged Spell Attack: +4 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d10) fire damage.
A rare breed of the more common deku baba, a fire baba gets its name from its ability to hurl magical motes of flame. It does so with the intent to kill creatures nearby, so their corpses can enrich the soil used by itself or other nearby fire babas.
Fire babas are most likely to be found in areas where fire has occurred naturally, such as near an active volcano, or in the ashes of a forest fire.
