Talk:Path of the Future (Shinobi World Supplement)

This should get a 30 or more chakra cost jutsu that is just the spell foresight. Maybe most of the doujutsu paths should have that actually. Or maybe make it yin-yang release.

This path already has Danger Warning. The only other dojutsu with stated foresight abilities is the sharingan, which has their Foresight feature. This class is intended to be playable in normal 5e, and one player shouldn't be contributing everything, so I don't think we should just go around copying spells. There's a reason the Replication feature has so many caveats.--Ref3rence (talk) 11:44, 19 January 2023 (MST)

Not the sharingan ability foresight, the dnd spell foresight. 9th level spell. "You touch a willing creature and bestow a limited ability to see into the immediate future. For the duration, the target can't be surprised and has advantage on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws. Additionally, other creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls against the target for the duration. This spell immediately ends if you cast it again before its duration ends." It takes a minute to cast, and lasts 8 hours.

That's exactly what I'm saying, the concept of foresight is already adapted, outright giving them another class's spell just makes the other class's abilities less unique, and thus other players have less fun.--Ref3rence (talk) 16:24, 19 January 2023 (MST)

So I re-read path of hate, and the abilities seem almost completely different to me. Sharingan doesn't even actually see the future, they just predict based on muscle movement and all that. Plus it feels like most of the doujutsu come with abilities that would make this power make sense, just with some different flavoring. The only shared thing is advantage on certain kinds of saving throws. It just feels like something longer lasting like that might be appropriate. I just put it here specifically since this is the only one that actually sees into the future.

I'm not sure what you mean by "longer lasting", since a sharinga's Foresight lasts for as long as the dojutsu is active, and making it last longer than the dojutsu itself doesn't make sense to me, while Danger Warning is always active. Both features represent having some insight into the future (which the sharingan technically has once it becomes Mangekyo but that's beside the point) without devaluing another class.--Ref3rence (talk) 18:37, 19 January 2023 (MST)

I don't really understand, even if I was using path of hate it's still a spell I would want, which is why I suggested maybe making it yin-yang if it wasn't going to be class specific, it doesn't feel like it's encroaching on path of hate at all. Also where is it mentioned that the mangekyou allows someone to see the future? I don't remember that in the manga, as far as I remember it granted the Uchiha uniques powers, but other than that was a normal sharingan. Not even sure it gives a bonus to genjutsu above a regular sharingan unless that's the unique ability.

It's not encroaching on Path of Hate, but it'd be stepping on the toes of wizards, warlocks, druids, and bards. MS's ability to see the future is only mentioned occasionally (primarily in the second databook that describes it as "clairvoyant... gazing down upon past, present and future", but it's tentative and I don't want to get caught up on it.--Ref3rence (talk) 20:55, 19 January 2023 (MST)

Idk I feel like the fact that you just listed almost every standard spellcasting class means it's not really stepping on toes. Plus it's a pretty under valued 9th level spell in my opinion. Most people go for meteor or true polymorph/shapechange. depending on whether the dm let's them keep their spells as a shapeshifting dragon after using true polymorph or not.--24.162.54.189 06:44, 20 January 2023 (MST)

I don't know any japanese, and the google translator refuses to give me a thing for the eye ending in gan, but maybe fate seeing eye translated into something gan would be cool for a name.

I admittedly do not know much either, but just "fate eye" (Unmeigan) may work better, as outside of the Ketsuryugan (which is kind of a mouthful), most dojutsu have three syllables including the -gan suffix. "Future eye" (Miraigan) could work well too. I'll have to think on it.--Ref3rence (talk) 16:24, 19 January 2023 (MST)

I think of those 2 Miraigan sounds better.

So is the idea that this dojutsu is permanently active or was that forgotten? P@uL (talk) 00:47, 30 April 2023 (MDT)

What do you think of when you're with the "Mystic Safety Bell Seal: Release" feature active, the jutsus in this subclass don't need concentration? Even if it increases the cost from 2 to 3 or 4 per round -- NescauOtaku (talk) 20:08, 14 May 2023 (BRT)

Taking off the concentration from the jutsu would allow some very overpowered combos that would break the game, but since you mentioned this, I could make the jutsu of this path cost half as much chakra when it's active. P@uL (talk) 00:38, 15 May 2023 (MDT)
