Talk:Greatspear (5e Equipment)

I think a Greatspear should be a versatile weapon, and the one handed damage as 2d6 just like a spear but stronger. Azernath (talk) 21:02, 16 April 2015 (MDT)

Hmm, that might make sense for a Large PC, but not a Medium PC. I need to think about it, will probably need to write a variant rules page for handling Large PCs (like I did for Tiny PCs). Marasmusine (talk) 04:46, 17 April 2015 (MDT)
Do you remember kratos from god of war, he had a brother who use spear weapon with a shield. Whenever I think of a great spear I think of him. Azernath (talk) 07:01, 17 April 2015 (MDT)
Well, I'm going by http://godofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Deimos - it seems to be Spartan style spear-and-shield, I'm thinking that this is just a spear with its size exaggerated for the sake of a video game (as most video games like to do). Alternately, Deimos has demigod-like attributes, in D&D he would probably have some class or racial feature that lets him wield a two-handed weapon in one hand. Exactly, a strong character carrying two handed weapon with one hand is almost similar to a character with the oversized ability carrying a greatspear with one hand. Azernath (talk) 07:43, 17 April 2015 (MDT)
I've rewritten Oversized (5e Variant Rule), and made Large Player Characters (5e Variant Rule). A normal spear is 1d6 (1d8). A greatspear is 1d8. A greatspear in the hands of a large creature is 1d8 (1d10). You might want more damage, but remember this is a simple weapon. Maybe it can go higher, but let me evaluate the other weapons first.
If you make new oversized weapons, add [[Category:Oversized]] so they'll be listed at Oversized (5e Variant Rule). Marasmusine (talk) 16:44, 17 April 2015 (MDT)
