Talk:Eliksni (5e Race)

I believe it is common courtesy here to ask if editing the page would be acceptable. I was about to create the race when I discovered it already existed, and my intention was to make it something like the Dragon which is coupled with a class of its own. Such a composite would allow for much greater accuracy to the race in Destiny. They aren't capable of much more than most 5e races, and transforming the race in such a way would allow for a Small size start and a Large size finish, as well as showing the great reliance on ether as a food source, potentially to help balance the race/class into needing to convert metal into ether to survive - much like they do in Destiny. If this is not agreeable, which I don't imagine it will be, I believe the next course I would be expected to take is creating a "variant" page? --Max7238 (talk) 01:33, 30 March 2019 (MDT)

I think you can take up the race and just add the class portion at the bottom like most composite classes have it. Like the Barbed Devil (5e Race) for example. If anything, I feel a variant is less agreeable than editing this original page. I'm sure you'll bring it to standard.--Yanied (talk) 11:20, 30 March 2019 (MDT)
Well, I hope I didn't do you wrong, since you were so sure. The class has been created. --Max7238 (talk) 13:24, 1 April 2019 (MDT)
I left my comment there. It looks good for something made so fast! Oh, for the ether reliant trait on the race, you might want to specify exactly how much they need to survive and so forth.--Yanied (talk) 23:56, 1 April 2019 (MDT)
The trait has been updated using some information from the integrated class. --Max7238 (talk) 15:56, 2 April 2019 (MDT)

It may be worth it to simply cut the race down to strictly Captain-class Eliksni, and let the integrated class sort out the rest. It would make balancing the race itself much easier, but when paired with the class, it would have a much weaker start into a decently strong finish. The class does not offer additional proficiencies, and I've changed the wording on Four Arms to directly state that the race cannot benefit from a shield to increase AC. It really COULD do with cutting down, somewhat, if it were restricted to Captain-class. --Max7238 (talk) 22:09, 6 April 2019 (MDT)

Sometimes it is necessary to make a lot of changes because other game content doesn't translate well into 5e.--Yanied (talk) 14:23, 7 April 2019 (MDT)

A Shot at Rebalance[edit]

Hey, I'm the guy that made a bunch of the bigger changes to the race. Right now, I believe it's in a much better state, although a few problems are still around, namely the subraces. For starters, I have absolutely no idea what to do with the weapon proficiency in House of Devils/Kings, so they're just commented out right now. Also, the Codes could do with some rebalance to be more in-line with the Houses, removing the need for a design disclaimer.

Regardless, I'd like to know others thoughts on the race, besides the beforementioned problems. Thanks. --SwankyPants (talk) 14:01, 25 January 2021 (MST)
