Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Being able to deal damage every time you are hit with a melee attack is more powerful than a typical cantrip.

You can help D&D Wiki by better balancing the mechanics of this page. When the mechanics have been changed so that this template is no longer applicable please remove this template. If you do not understand balance please leave comments on this page's talk page before making any edits.

Slime Shield
Conjuration cantrip
Casting time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

You summon a wall of slime in an area you can see within range, or around yourself. The wall can be up to 5 feet wide and 5 feet tall, any creature who passes through the wall takes 1d8 acid damage and has their movement speed reduced by 10, you can move the wall up to 10 feet as a bonus action. Alternatively you can make the shield surround you like a bubble, which follows you as you move, any creature that hits you with a melee attack will automatically take 1d8 acid damage. If a creature comes within 5 feet of the Slime Shield, you can use your reaction to cause the slime to lash out at the creature, forcing them to make a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 acid damage.

At Higher Levels. The spell's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8).
