Silentium (5e Equipment)

Weapon (rapier), uncommon (requires attunement)

Silentium is a deadly silver rapier. His crafter was hit by a spell while hardening it and the magic within the spell transferred to the blade, thus making it magical and saving the crafter's life.

The rapier deals the same amount of damage of a normal common rapier at the start, but, after attuning to it, the wielder can unleash the true power of the blade.

Silentium, as the name says, silences the enemy hit for a round, making it impossible for him to cast spells after getting stabbed and also, after a second attunement, it becomes also a Rapier +1.

You can use Silentium's ability 1/day after the first attunement. After the charge has been spent, you can restore the blade's magical properties by casting any spell or cantrip that has a duration of at least one action onto it, thus restoring one charge. After the second attunement, the weapon is capable of storing more magic into itself, creating more chances for the user to unleash its power. The blade's charges go up to 3/day, and you can also charge the weapon fully after taking a long rest with a single spell or cantrip.

Creatures you hit with the weapon must make a Wisdom saving throw, scaling by the creature's dimensions. Small/Medium/Large/Huge/Gargantuan creatures must take a DC 18/14/10/7/5 Wisdom saving throw. After the 2nd attunement, the values change to DC 19/15/11/8/6.

The first attunement requires a short rest while the weapon is constantly agitated and brushed against a whetstone, inside a bucket of clean cold water (6 C° less) using the mage hand cantrip.

The second attunement requires the same exact thing but this time for a long rest and using hot water (80 C°). Before the attunements, the rapier appears a normal silver rapier, with no exceptional or notable differences. After the second attunement, using the cold water and brushing against it, the rapier grows a thick white patina on top of the silver. The white layer shines with a light blue hue against light. After the second attunement, the white coat starts cracking, and it reveals a rapier of a matte black/dark gray colour, hardened by the treatment. It still shines against the light.
