Realistic Explosion
5th-level Evocation
Casting time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S, M (a five-pound barrel full of gunpowder, consumed as part of casting this spell)
Duration: Instantaneous

The barrel of gunpowder flies from your outstretched hands to a point you choose within range and explodes on impact. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Strength saving throw and a Dexterity saving throw. If the target fails the Strength saving throw and is size Large or smaller, it is hurled in a direction away from the explosion 5 feet for every size category below Large. If the creature collides with an obstacle such as a wall or another creature as a result of this movement, both targets take 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 5 feet the hurled creature would have traveled. A creature that fails the Dexterity saving throw takes 6d6 fire damage and 6d6 thunder damage and is knocked prone if it failed the Strength saving throw. A creature that succeeds the Dexterity saving throw takes half as much damage. Objects in the spell's area automatically take the damage, and are also hurled if they are of eligible size.

Finally, if a creature takes the thunder damage from this spell and isn't resistant to thunder damage, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be deafened for 1 minute. A creature that fails this saving throw by 5 or more is additionally stunned for the duration. An affected creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the condition(s) on a success. Once the condition ends, the creature receives 1d4 levels of gradual deafness.

If the explosion takes place in an enclosed space, such as a tunnel, small room, or cave, the explosion travels around corners and becomes twice in size in radius. The thunder and fire damage also increase by 2d6, and the Constitution saving throw is made with disadvantage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6, radius increases by 5 feet, and the gunpowder required for the material component increases by 1 pound for each slot level above 5th. The maximum size for creatures and objects able to be hurled by this spell also increases by one size category for every two slot levels above 5th.
