Mr. Satan, also known as Hercule Satan, Mr. Savage, Master Handsome, and Mark, is the celebrated hero of Earth. Through a combination of luck and above-average human skill, he made a name for himself in the dojo of Satan Castle. While on tour, he and his master mocked another patron's hairstyle, who in return killed the master and hospitalized the student. From then on, Mr. Satan solemnly swore never to fight anyone whose true identity he did not know, or anyone who seemed crazy strong. In Age 756, Mark and his wife Miguel had their daughter Videl. After Miguel's death shortly after, Mark became very protective of his daughter, only allowing only those who can beat him in a fight to date his daughter. After winning the 24th World Martial Arts Tournament through a combination of a lack of strong fighters, his skill, and luck, he became the World Martial Arts Champion from May 7th, Age 767, and kept this title all the way through Age 790. During his reign, he publicized doubts about the nature of ki, claiming that he is the only non-scripted champion. However, after witnessing the Cell Games, he became a believer. Rather than discounting information regarding ki for the sake of pride, he now did it to keep peace and reduce potential risks to the Z-Fighters' missions. He played a support role as an honorary Z-Fighter throughout the rest of his life, keeping Good Buu happy and out of the public eye, and covering up Earth's narrowly-avoided destruction at the hands of Beerus.
