Hindering Light
5th-level Abjuration
Casting time: 1 reaction, which you take when you see a creature within 60 feet of you casting a spell
Range: 60 feet
Components: S
Duration: Instantaneous

Centuries of careful practice have elevated the casting of protective spells to an art form. What little offensive magic remains on the Material Plane stands little chance of breaching them.

When this spell is cast, a beam of light shines down in front of you, allowing you to stop a creature from altering your mind or body with a spell. If it is casting a spell that would affect only you and the spell doesn't deal damage or cause you to die, the spell fails and has no effect. For example, the charm person spell fits this criteria, but the grease, fireball, and power word kill spells do not.

The Hindering Light spell cannot be cast unless the caster is of a Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, or Lawful Neutral alignment.
