Form Caster, Variant

Prerequisites: The ability to cast at least one spell, the ability to transform into another form or creature.
You are a natural born magical fighter who can apply your transformations in combat better than anyone else. By choosing this talent you receive the following benefits:

  • Increase your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma by 1, to a maximum of 20.
  • You are so adept at shapeshifting that you have become adept at it. Over time, you have learned to cast spells in your other forms. Forms, in this context, could be a werewolf in its hybrid or full form, a druid using Wild Shape, or a wizard using Polymorph. This allows you to channel spells while in your forms, as long as you meet the prerequisites. Additionally, your game statistics are replaced by the beast's statistics, but you retain your alignment, personality, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You also retain all of your skill proficiencies and saving throws, in addition to gaining those of the beast. However, if the beast has any legendary or lair actions, you cannot use them. You gain the following benefits, provided you meet the prerequisites below.
  • To cast a verbal spell, the form you are in must have a mouth.
  • Otherwise, you cannot cast verbal spells (without the aid of another feat).
  • To cast somatic spells, the form you are in must have hands, feet, or some kind of appendage that can perform the same movements as one (e.g., a tree branch).
  • Otherwise, you cannot cast somatic spells (without the aid of another feat).
  • To cast a spell that relies on sight, your form must have sight, darkvision, blindsight, or tremblesense.
  • In addition, you can only cast a ranged spell out to the range of your sight type. If you don’t have a type of vision or the target is beyond your type of vision, you can still cast the spell as if you were attacking an invisible creature.
  • If a material is required for your spell and the form you have doesn’t have that material as part of its form or doesn’t have access to that material in the environment, you can’t cast that material spell (without the help of another feat).
