Overview[edit]

Subrace Varieties[edit]

One of the largest populations in Grisaire, elves are diverse body of people that are known to inhabit many different places in the world. Below is a brief snapshot of the subraces intended for use in the Grisaire setting:

Drow[edit]

Eladrin[edit]

High Elves[edit]

Use of Tattoos[edit]

Marking the skin for high elves was considered a privilege in the few high elven settlements in Zesh. Using magical inks on their body, these Zeshan high elves crafted the first spellwrought tattoos. Those particularly proficient in the use of these bodily inks were known as the few ink masters. The use of these tattoos is a coveted secret and kept within the secret society of the Essence Scholars. Keep in mind that the use of these tattoos for elves is found only within the Zeshan high elven population. You won't find this within Igribus' population of high elves.

Sea Elves[edit]

Wood Elves[edit]

Pallid elves[edit]

Elven Language[edit]

See also Elvish Language

Elves have their own spoken tongue, but use Sylvan as script. Elvish is technically not a single language that all elves speak. Rather, it is a family of languages that all elves share and have different variations of. While all the languages in this family write with Sylvan, the spoken portions sometimes vary so differently that they are barely mutually intelligible. All the languages in this family share many root etymologies for words, but grammar, phonetics, and slang differ heavily.

The largest indicator of these differences can be found in the language variants of high elves, wood elves, and sea elves.
