Dragon Balls (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Dragon balls are various sets of crystalline spheres with varying sizes, colors and numbers with a varying number of five pointed stars on them which equal to which sphere it is in the set. Each of these spheres are useless individually, but if all the spheres of one set are gathered in one place they can grant a set number of wishes that varies with the set, usually with a special "password" to summon its dragon. If the creator of a set of dragon balls dies, the set turns to stone and can not be used.

Wish Granting. When a dragon is called, it grants a number of wishes, as per the wish spell, as indicated in the set's description. Wishes are answered in the exact manner wished by the wisher, thus avoiding a “monkey’s paw” scenario, allowing for much greater effects than the wish spell. The dragon grants the first complete wish spoken.

Earth's Dragon Balls (Kami)[edit]

Wondrous Item, Very Rare

The dragon balls found on Earth are palm sized bright orange variants that occasionally glow a bright yellow, with seven balls total. When all seven dragon balls in this set are gathered and the words "Eternal Dragon, by your name, I summon you forth: Shenron!" are uttered, they summon the wish dragon Shenron, who grants them one wish, though, there are various restrictions:

  • You cannot wish for something you have already wished for using these dragon balls.
  • You cannot wish for more wishes.
  • You can not wish for love.
  • You cannot wish to affect someone negatively who has a CR equal to or higher than 16.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of someone who has died of natural causes.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of someone who has been dead for more than 1 year if they are resurrected as part of a group.
  • Any objects created by the wish must be smaller than 10 cubic miles, and can not have a value over 100,000 gp.

After the wishes are granted the dragon balls scatter throughout the earth and turn into stone, unable to be used again for 365 days. If these dragon balls are used more than 10 times before 100 years pass they turn dark blue. If they are used an additional time before 100 years from the 1st wish, they crack, summoning Black Smoke Shenron who instead of granting wishes forms the Shadow Dragons.

Earth's Dragon Balls (Dende)[edit]

Wondrous Item, Very Rare

Identical to the Earth's previous set of dragon balls, this set was empowered by Dende after Kami's absorption. Once the words "Eternal Dragon, by your name, I summon you forth: Shenron!" are uttered, they summon the wish dragon Shenron, who grants them three wishes, though, there are various restrictions:

  • You cannot wish for something you have already wished for using these dragon balls.
  • You cannot wish for more wishes.
  • You can not wish for love.
  • You cannot wish to affect someone negatively who has a CR equal to or higher than 16.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of someone who has died of natural causes.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of someone who has been dead for more than 1 year if they are resurrected as part of a group.
  • Resurrecting multiple people costs 2 wishes.

Dark Dragon Balls[edit]

Wondrous Item, Legendary

Being near identical to Earth’s dragon balls, this set is dark red with black stars created by Xeno Dende. When all seven are gathered and the words "Eternal Dragon, by your name, I summon you forth: Shenron!" are uttered, they summon the evil Dark Shenron, who grants one wish, though, there are various restrictions:

  • You cannot wish for something you have already wished for using these dragon balls.
  • You cannot wish for more wishes.
  • You can not wish for love.
  • You cannot wish to affect someone negatively who has a CR equal to or higher than 25.

Additionally, a creature of evil alignment may attune to one of the balls. Doing so grants them the following. If they attune to multiple dragon balls, they count as one item for the purposes of attunement.

  • Their Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution each increase by +4.
  • Their movement speed increases by 10 feet.
  • If they have ki points, their maximum increases by 3.

These dragon balls scatter across space and time when used, instead of one specific planet.

Namekian Dragon Balls[edit]

Wondrous Item, Legendary

The dragon balls found on Namek are basketball sized variants chiseled out from the Super Dragon Balls. Created by Grand Elder Guru, there are seven balls in this set. When the Dragon Balls are gathered and the phrase "Takkaraput pop porunga pupiritt paro!" is spoken, Porunga is summoned and grants three wishes spoken in namekian, though, there are various restrictions:

  • You cannot wish for more wishes.
  • You can not wish for love.
  • You cannot wish to affect someone negatively who has a CR equal to or higher than 18.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of someone who has died of natural causes.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of more than 1 person.
  • Any objects created by the wish must be smaller than 10 cubic miles, and can not have a value over 100,000 gp.

After the wishes are granted, the dragon balls fall to the ground and turn into stone, unable to be used again for 130 days. If these dragon balls are used more than 25 times before 100 years pass they turn dark blue. If they are used an additional time before 100 years from the 1st wish, they crack, summoning Black Smoke Shenron who instead of granting wishes forms the Shadow Dragons.

Cerealian Dragon Balls[edit]

Wondrous Item, Very Rare

This set, created by Monaito belongs to Planet Cereal, and only has two balls which look similar to the black star dragon balls with the exception of being marble sized. After a password is spoken, they summon Toronbo who can grant one wish.

  • You cannot wish for something you have already wished for using these dragon balls.
  • You cannot wish for more wishes.
  • You can not wish for love.
  • You cannot wish to affect someone negatively who has a CR equal to or higher than 5.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of someone who has died of natural causes.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of someone who has been dead for more than 1 year.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of more than one person.
  • Any objects created by the wish must be smaller than 10 cubic miles, and can not have a value over 100,000 gp.

Instead of a wish, you may instead take any epic boon. Doing so reduces your lifespan by 18 years.

After the wishes are granted the dragon balls scatter across Cereal, but do not turn into stone. If these dragon balls are used more than 10 times before 100 years pass they turn dark blue. If they are used an additional time before 100 years from the 1st wish, they crack, summoning Black Smoke Toronbo who instead of granting wishes lashes out wildly at everything surrounding it.

Black Star Dragon Balls[edit]

Wondrous Item, Legendary

The dragon balls found on Earth are palm sized bright orange variants with black stars instead of red, with seven balls total. They were created by the Nameless Namekian, and later revived when Piccolo absorbed Kami. When all seven dragon balls in this set are gathered and the words "Eternal Dragon, by your name, I summon you forth: Shenron!" are uttered, they summon the wish dragon Ultimate Shenron, who grants them one wish, though, there are various restrictions:

  • You cannot wish for more wishes.
  • You cannot wish to affect someone negatively who has a CR equal to or higher than 25.
  • You can not wish for the resurrection of more than 1 person.
  • Any resurrection automatically creates a living body for the creature.
  • Any objects created by the wish must be smaller than 300,000,000,000 cubic miles.

Immediately after the wish is granted the dragon balls scatter throughout the universe but do not turn into stone, being available for another wish right away, but if they're not returned to the planet the wish was granted on in 365 days, the planet explodes. If these dragon balls are used more than 5 times before 100 years pass they turn dark blue. If they are used an additional time before 100 years from the 1st wish, they crack, summoning Ultimate Black Smoke Shenron, who attempts to wipe all life from the universe.

Super Dragon Balls[edit]

Wondrous Item, Unique

This set of seven planet-sized dragon balls are scattered across the 12 universes. When all are gathered and the words "Come forth, Dragon of the Gods, and grant my wish pretty peas!" are chanted in the language of the gods, it summons Super Shenron, who grants any one wish with no limitations, once even creating an entire dimension.

After a wish is granted they scatter throughout the multiverse and take the lifespan of a cockroach (365 days) to be available for another wish.
