So I am a katana-wielding wizard, and if I use the shock spell while attacking does that do anything because it's metal? Got curious :-P thanks!

if you shoot it out of your other free hand you should be fine.
btw do you know if say I cast a specific spell(lets say magic missile) and use a 1st level spell slot and want to cast it again do I use another 1st level spell slot
