Captain's Sword (5e Equipment)
Magical Weapon (longsword), uncommon (major) A marvel of great craftsmanship, these weapons are the rarest mundane swords in the world, that only blacksmiths of the highest degree even know how to forge, and even fewer have the skill to do so. They are awarded only to the greatest adventurers, but are also often sought after greedily by unworthy men. There are only ten known swords currently in use, and they are mostly used for ceremonial purposes or individual duels, not being used as weapons of war for a very long time. The sword has an instantly recognizable crossguard, and the blade is generally made from red-tinged metal, though the exact style varies from weapon to weapon. There is some dispute about how these swords are made, but one thing is for sure: they are marks of mastery and high rank for both the creator and the wielder. Despite not being magical – thus unaffected by Antimagic fields or similar effects – damage caused by this sword is considered magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances and immunities to non-magical damage. This longsword causes 1d10 slashing damage when wielded in one hand, and 1d12 when wielded in two hands (replacing the d8 and d10 respectively). Also, this blade never rusts nor loses its sharpness. Well Balanced. When you roll a 1 or 2 on an attack roll made with this weapon, you may reroll the attack. You must use the new roll. Magical Captain's Swords. Some of the Captain's Swords are enchanted, infused with powers based on the wielder they were meant to serve. Below are examples of known Captain's Swords that can serve as inspiration and guidance to the DM when they are creating the additional powers of these legendary weapons.
