Balance[edit]

This is definitely better than any single-handed simple weapon in the SRD, and even better than the martial weapons scimitar and shortsword. If the d6 damage die is that important, then this should at least be a martial weapon and share its proficiency with a martial weapon instead.
Either that, or it should be a magic weapon. Or whoever wants to use finesse axes can just have a feat/feature like Axe Master (5e Feat). - Guy (talk) 12:54, 29 November 2017 (MST)

I feel like this could be balanced by simply removing the light property. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 13:06, 29 November 2017 (MST)
Although I personally would still consider that "too good for a simple weapon," at that point it at least would not be definitively better than SRD martial weapons. I would stop pestering about it, at least. - Guy (talk) 13:14, 29 November 2017 (MST)
It smacks of an exercise in mechanics. Doesn't say physically how it's different from a handaxe, except that it's lighter: but it loses the light property? If you look at the finesse weapons that aren't also light (rapier, whip), there are physical reasons why they wouldn't be effective in the off-hand. Is the Assassin Axe some kind of long, slender thing? I recommend changing it to martial. Marasmusine (talk) 15:54, 29 November 2017 (MST)
