Tri-staff of Majere (3.5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Tri-staff of Majere: This item is a +2 Holy weapon. In most cases, the tri-staff is crafted from holly wood. In it's base state, it appears as three 2-foot long staves connected by a thin 8-inch silver chain. When the forms are shifted, the chain retracts into the staves.

The tri-staff can be used in three different forms which can be shifted at the beginning of each round. Each form change must be stated before each attack. The first form is a cross between a nunchaku and a dire flail. None of the sections are connected in this form. It is to be treated as dire flail for all damage rolls, but as a nunchaku for attack options.

The second form is a cross between a nunchaku and a flail. This form is created when two of the sections are connected, letting the third hang loose. It is to be treated as dire flail for all damage rolls, but as a nunchaku for attack options.

The final form is the quarterstaff. All sections are connected in this form. When it is used as a quarterstaff, the wielder has the ability to use it as a focal point to cast Ring of Force as a level 8 caster 5/day, doing 4d6 of Force damage. This ability can only be used if the end of the staff is forcefully thrust against the ground.

Creation

Cost to Create: The tri-staff of Majere is a blessed item crafted as a mundane weapon, but blessed by the god Majere. The monk that undertakes the creation of this weapon must first find a holly branch at least seven feet in length, and at least two feet of cord. When the crafting begins, the monk enters into communion with Majere, letting his/her god guide his hand. Through this divine guidance, the rope is transmuted into a fine silver chain. Majere himself casts the Ring of Force enchantment on the weapon. The average time for creation is approximately two days. The monk does not stop work during that period of time.

Note: A monk does not have to create the tri-staff to be able to wield it.
