Transponder (4e Future Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Level 2 Simple Adventuring Equipment
Cost: 31 credits
Weight: neg. lb
Benefit: Emits an identifying signal.
No larger than a credit card, a transponder emits a unique identifying signal that can be detected by most detectors, scanners and surveyors. They can be keyed to an individual person or a vehicle.
For civilian applications, they are assigned to colonists, miners, rescue crew, and other workers in hazardous environments.
In the military, they are used in Identify Friend / Foe (IFF) systems. Robotic weapon systems can be set to fire upon entities that do not emit a friendly transponder signal. It also allows tactical heads-up-displays to highlight friendly or enemy soldiers.
