Talk:Shadow Assassin, Variant (5e Class)

I have several issues with the balance of this class. I'd like to see this class come to fruition, but some things must be addressed.

Shadowstep uses a cantrip slot which don't exist. Also, teleport spells are typically attained once 2nd level spell slots are reached. It also does similar things to the Assassinate ability by including advantage on attack rolls.

What is the range on Death Spray and how long does the condition last? Couldn't Poison Spray do basically the same thing?

The high ratio of Fighting, Magic, and Roguish elements make it grossly eclectic and unbalanced; perhaps archetypes are in order. A full spell table is not needed when martial prowess is so prevalent.

You can cast spells through the Shadow Blade weapon? So, I could hit someone and give them True Sight, or I could cast Hallucinatory Terrain on them? What type of action summons the shadow blade? Later it automatically hit and bypasses resistances? Along with extra attack and action surge, this needs to be addressed.

As a personal opinion, shouldn't Second Wind use the Shadow Assassin's hit die instead of the Fighter's hit die?

Can Dark Velocity be switched at any time, or is it a one time thing?

Finally, Lingering Shadows seems far to good to be a cantrip.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by PunnyDM12 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

You are right, the class is very much broken with 3 attacks when you take the attack action(and various other powerful fighter features), full spellcasting, and the rouge's sneak attack. Then there are the other class features which have numerous others problems mainly listed above.--Blobby383b (talk) 18:30, 26 December 2017 (MST)
