Anyone want to see my work and get the image onto the class? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 104.33.45.57 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

I do have one question or request, should there be an archetype added that is all about using soldiers. Basically someone who summons a large amount of reinforcements? (i have little idea how to put links in this engine)Holy Faithman 1/27/2020

Awesome![edit]

I just want to say that I love this class! Quincy (talk) 10:10, 26 June 2018 (MDT)

Formatting?[edit]

As a general note regarding formatting, I recommend removing one = sign from each of the legion headings. Do you mind if I do it to show what I mean? Arquebus (talk) 05:28, 23 March 2022 (MDT)

Considered that, but then things will either look a bit weird on the ToC or I can't seperate the standard subclasses from the ones that could cause problems. So, five ='s is my best bet. --SwankyPants (talk) 06:21, 23 March 2022 (MDT)

Recent Balancing[edit]

It's a bit easier to do longer form here as opposed to discord, so I think I'll be sticking to here. Working from this edit.

  • I was rather particular about how I was managing troops, as:
    • I didn't want them to overshadow other PCs.
    • If you have too much map coverage, you may be the only person taking damage.
  • Both of these can lead to some major problems, so I tried to keep it toned down. Improvements were also counted as features, so those levels were kept blank. While I pushed this with Infantry Regiment as they got basically nothing else, pushing them to 8 troops at CR 6 breaks the camels back, as you now control(on average) two parties worth of creatures and yourself. With certain players, their turns will now take months. This wasn't a great idea and should probably be brought back.
    • As a concequence of this, Drake Riders had it's CR pushed up to roughly an adult dragon's CR, instead of young. Adults deals a lot of damage, and are even better considering the flat +3 to attack, damage, and AC they get from the Troops feature. Drake Riders doesn't even have the extra subclass features yet, and it's an issue.
    • Another note about Infantry Regiments and The Finest There Is, it essentially makes the capstone of the class irrelevant, as you now always have advantage on attacks.
  • When I was talking about We Ride at Dawn, I mostly thought of it as something that shouldn't be there. Now, it grants roughly 75k GP worth of equipment per troop, and overlaps with a troop improvement(11th level - 3rd troop).

Overall, I don't like a lot of these changes, as they simply just increase the power of a class that should already be a fairly effective front-liner/controller.

More on a personal note, I directly avoided making anything but the magical subclass explicitly magic. Armored Corps could be an engineer, Guerilla Tactics could just be really good with animals, hell, even Undying Hordes could just be a pal of a necromancer. But adding a feature that allows you to raise undead directly kinda conflicts with that, in my opinion. --SwankyPants (talk) 11:57, 24 March 2022 (MDT)

I have been looking for a homebrew class that is a great tank, buffs its allies and has lots of utility but does not do much damage. Could this be the one? Arquebus (talk) 15:48, 24 March 2022 (MDT)
Could be, maybe. Then again, it is meant to scale/play like a fighter, and you should deal some decent damage, if indirectly. Not exactly a tank though, as much as area denial via bodyblocking. --SwankyPants (talk) 15:53, 24 March 2022 (MDT)

The lvl 17[edit]

Instead of a short rest ability that mostly caters to casters how bout a revamp of the medic ability drop the whole short or long rest for 5 minutes of work bit but something that gives the player more options with the one bonus action they get, like choosing to be a sorta psuedo healer or a type of inspiration like mechanic to fill out the empty slots left by 5 and 11, since the troop mechanic is tied to gold and time both of which is controlled by the gm it be nice not to be left with "the 4 sessions since i got to 5th and i still haven't gotten my 2nd troop cause the party won't stop for 5 minutes" doesn't need to be big like MEDIC was something small like a advantage to persuasion checks with military/nobility, ya know something really situational but only a general would really get and could help em get that 2nd and 3rd troop easier or help keep the party topped up and removes debuffs. anyway ave a good one mate
