Talk:Battlemage (5e Feat)

Putting the feat back together for the time being. The reason giving for on the edits page were "complicated and uninteresting". 1st bullet is potent, yes, but the 3rd bullet is a nerfed version of the Variant Rule:Cleave designed for spells with attack rolls. The 2nd bullet is designed to provide an effect for save based damaging spells that was in line with -5/+10 damage. If a suggestion can be made for a 2nd bullet feature that accomplishes such with the level of clarity and brevity that can be found satisfactory, changes can be afforded.--Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 22:00, 2 February 2017 (MST)

Hmm....I guess you're right. It's not actually that complicated, but it does take a few read-overs. --Carcabob (talk) 12:26, 3 February 2017 (MST)

The other idea I considered was adding bonus damage if they failed the save vs damage by 5 or more. But it's not very risk/reward and is more luck dependant.-Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 13:20, 3 February 2017 (MST)

Feat is stupidly powerful, For one reason. Eldritch blast. I calced 80 damage. (82 to be precise) Lets say you're a sorlock surgemage, with 2 levels fighter, 6+ in sorc, 3+ in warlock. You can eldritch blast 3 times in a single turn. Set up with shadow sorc's hound and a hold monster, and you're tearing through alot of monsters in a round. 312 damage. in a single round (Average). This is also better great weapon master. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Archmage Karsus (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Yeah, quick problem. You can only cast 1 leveled spell and 1 cantrip a turn. At most, yer lookin at an extra 40, but this is still a fair amount of setup. Sign your posts. --SwankyPants (talk) 14:21, 4 January 2021 (MST)
