Current Design[edit]

With the changes to this armor, it serves as a different option to Magnificent Half-Plate (5e Equipment). The armor has a better AC without the need for a higher Dexterity mod in exchange for some minor nerfs/worse things across the board.--Blobby383b (talk) 13:24, 22 November 2021 (MST)

Ok. There are many other types of Arcanetarakk armor out there but most of those only show up on megoi stat blocks. --Gdd4270 (talk) 15:57, 22 November 2021 (MST)
Yeah, for the most part, creature armor does not necessarily have to fit pcs as a lot of creatures aren't humanoids. Armor that does fit humanoids you have to be careful with though, as you don't necessarily want the pcs to gain overpowered stuff. Anyway, with the change to this armor so it has +1 AC and disadvantage on Stealth checks, I have nerfed a few things across the board, but am not quite sure that the balance is completely spot on (it is close though). Perhaps making this cost 100 more gp than the increased cost or increasing the weight by 10lbs would work? If you have any ideas and/or thoughts as well, I am all ears.--Blobby383b (talk) 16:10, 26 November 2021 (MST)
Yes. Can you keep the AC as 16 + Dexterity max 2. It would be hard for pcs to get this, as it is almost only found on megoi; I can increase the cost if you want. I'll start with 200 more gp. Tell me on this page or my talk page if you think it should be different. --Gdd4270 (talk) 16:13, 26 November 2021 (MST)
Yeah the AC should stay the same with the changes. I am thinking just raising the weight from 40 to 50 might be fine. Either way, all the changes by me were trying to get the balance right while retaining as much of your intent as possible as other players/Dm's will likely incorporate the armor to their own campaigns as it is pretty easy to re-flavor stuff, and harder to get balance right. With that though, hopefully the armor will be finished. --Blobby383b (talk) 16:21, 26 November 2021 (MST)
Ah never mind, the increased cost is good so the weight increase isn't needed.--Blobby383b (talk) 16:22, 26 November 2021 (MST)
That makes sense. I also think that if you added more, it would probably need to become heavy armor, considering that the heaviest official medium armor, a half plate, weighs 40 pounds. --Gdd4270 (talk) 16:24, 26 November 2021 (MST)
I think that this page is probably balanced and complete, mostly, even though I may later add to the description. I will now add {{Protection Against IP Edits}}. Also, please don't change the weight, it is good. --Gdd4270 (talk) 17:48, 26 November 2021 (MST)
