Spectral Boomerang (5e Equipment)

Weapon (boomerang), rare (requires attunement)

The problem with a weapon that flies back to you if it misses is that it needs to miss the target to gain that advantage. The drop bears of Calavera neatly avoided this issue by inventing a spectral boomerang that passes through creatures and still damages them. It doesn't damage objects, unfortunately.

If you use this weapon as a normal boomerang, it deals 1d8 + your Dexterity modifier bludgeoning damage on a hit, and it flies back to you whether it hits or misses.

Throwing Stick. As an action, you can invoke the magic of the boomerang and throw it in a 60-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 4 (1d8) slashing damage. The boomerang then returns to your hand. Any creature that failed the first saving throw must repeat the saving throw or take an additional 4 (1d8) force damage.
