Serpent-Kin (5e Race)

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Constrict starts off simple, and then climbs the damage range quite a bit. Additionally, it doesn't have a recharge, so you can use this more often than something like a dragonbreath. Speed burst also doesn't make any sense with "1.5m"

Broom Icon.svg.png This page needs grammatical help. Reason: Mechanical wording is missing or a bit weird in places ("abdicate", "while grabbing, you are not incapacitated", eg.)

Physical Description[edit]

A Serpent-kin is a creature very similar to a human, but it has a snake's tail. It has some pale skin and deep red eyes, its skin is often lined with colored "vein" that vary from creature to creature, sharper canines like a snake and very sharp claws that are hidden in its hands. They also tend to be the altered offspring of human beings and, therefore, average 4 to 5 feet in height when they are "standing". From the nose to the tail, they are approximately 15 - 20 feet long.

History[edit]

Born long before people like the yuan-ti, the Serpent-kins direct ancestry is unknown, some believing the came from the stars, others believing they came from deep underground. They were cunning, quick, secretive and lived long enough that their worldly desires seem to have faded for the most part. Throughout the years of living each year giving the creatures more and more power, their prowess and strength became the aspirations of the now yuan-ti.

Society[edit]

Unlike other humanoids Serpent-kin are generally loners, their scarcity and long lived nature leaving them to often reject bonding with those of other races that do not have the same lifespan that they have. Many never growing past a feral nature. Those that do often live lives of seclusion deep underground or within forgotten corners of the world.
