Ring of Gigantism (5e Equipment)

Ring, Very rare (requires attunement)

This ring superficially resembles a ring of regeneration, and an identify spell will identify it as such. In addition to the benefits normally granted by a ring of regeneration, a curse also affects whomever wears this ring.

Regeneration. While wearing this ring, you regain 1d6 hit points every 10 minutes, provided that you have at least 1 hit point. If you lose a body part, the ring causes the missing part to regrow and return to full functionality after 1d6 + 1 days if you have at least 1 hit point the whole time.

Curse of Gigantism. The ring remains active even when the wearer is uninjured. Every 2 consecutive hours that the wearer spends uninjured at their hit point maximum, they grow in size, increasing their height by 1 inch. As this effect compounds, there are various effects on the wearers abilities.

  • After 24 total hours (12 inches), the wearer cannot maneuver their body as well as they used to, suffering a -2 to Dexterity, and have disadvantage on stealth and acrobatics checks.
  • After 48 total hours (24 inches), the wearers larger body makes for a larger target, reducing their AC by 1.
  • After 96 total hours (48 inches), the effect stabilizes. The previous Dexterity and AC penalties double, but the growth ceases.

Removing the curse. Attuning to this item curses you until you are targeted by a remove curse spell or similar magic, and you are unable to un-attune to this item by any other means. Casting lesser restoration will remove the curses effects, but the effects will return to their previous state before the spell was cast after 24 hours if the ring has not been un-attuned.
