Shapechanger. The qori ismaris can use its action to polymorph into a hyena-humanoid hybrid, a humanoid, a hyena, a Large or smaller beast with CR less than or equal to its own, or back into its true form, which is a gnoll. Its statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The qori ismaris has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Pounce (Gnoll, Hyena or Hybrid Form Only). If the qori ismaris moves at least 15 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the qori ismaris can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.

Innate Spellcasting. The qori ismaris's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 14). The qori ismaris can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: faerie fire, invisibility, mending, mirror image, see invisibility
3/day each: charm person, heat metal, sleep, vampiric touch

Regeneration. The qori ismaris regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point. If the qori ismaris takes bludgeoning, piercing or slashing damage from a magical or silvered attack, this trait doesn't function at the start of the qori ismaris's next turn.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The qori ismaris makes three attacks in gnoll, hyena or hybrid form: one with its bite and two with its claws or flail in gnoll or hybrid form. In humanoid form, it makes two attacks with its flail. In beast form, it makes two maul attacks.

Bite (Gnoll, Hyena or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) piercing damage. If the target is a hyena, it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be transformed into a bouda over the next 1d4 hours.
A spell such as lesser restoration or remove curse can end the transformation process at any time before it runs its course. After the process is complete, only a wish spell can reverse the effect.

Claws (Gnoll, Hyena or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 9 (2d4 + 4) slashing damage.

Maul (Beast Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage as a Large beast, 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage as a Medium or Small beast or 1 bludgeoning damage as a Tiny beast.

Flail (Gnoll, Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage.

BONUS ACTIONS

Rampage. When the qori ismaris reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack on its turn, the qori ismaris moves up to half its speed and makes a bite attack.

The qori ismaris are gnolls transformed by the malign will of Yeenoghu into powerful shapeshifters known to haunt the savannah and arid highlands but they have been spotted in the rainforests as well. It is said that they will take up residence near villages as handsome blacksmiths and lovely healers and slowly manipulate the village into trusting them, all the while feeding information to a gnoll pack and subtly weakening the defenders. Over time, the qori ismaris will transform any nearby hyenas into boudas and task them with murdering and impersonating some of the villagers, who become the qori's loyal lackeys and enforcers. Once the other gnolls arrive, the qori ismaris and the boudas reveal their allegiance and strike and devour their prey in their true form.
