Shapechanger. The bouda can use its action to polymorph into a hyena-humanoid hybrid or into a humanoid, or back into its true form, which is a hyena. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The bouda has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Pounce (Hyena or Hybrid Form Only). If the bouda moves at least 15 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the bouda can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.

Regeneration. The bouda regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point. If the bouda takes bludgeoning, piercing or slashing damage from a magical or silvered attack, this trait doesn't function at the start of the bouda's next turn.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. In hyena or hybrid form, the bouda makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws or flail in hybrid form. In humanoid form, it makes two attacks with its flail.

Bite (Hyena or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a hyena, it must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or be transformed into a gnoll over the next 2d12 hours.
A spell such as lesser restoration or remove curse can end the transformation process at any time before it runs its course. After the process is complete, only a wish spell can reverse the effect.

Claws (Hyena or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 8 (2d4 + 3) slashing damage.

Flail (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage.

BONUS ACTIONS

Rampage. When the bouda reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack on its turn, the bouda moves up to half its speed and makes a bite attack.

Boudas are created when qori ismaris use their potent blood to corrupt a handful of hyenas, transforming them into lycanthrope-like creatures loyal only to their creator. These creatures can in turn inflict infectious bites on other hyenas and turn them into savage gnolls, though they are also useful as spies, as they may freely adopt humanoid forms. Some boudas can even transform into different animals, usually a dog or beast of burden.
