Mortal Blade (5e Equipment)
Mőrťäł Bļådę[edit]
Weapon (Longsword), rare (Requires attunement)
This rusty sword is chipped and cracked, and the once pristine cloth handle is frayed and ripped and is starting to come off. It looks as if someone tried to tie it back on. Its scabbard is made of an unknown material and is unraveling in places. Three blackened silver cords are tied to small holes near the pommel. A large red rune is set at the top of the scabbard, and ripples slightly when touched.
Despite being rusty, you gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. It is immune to any effects that would corrode or rust it. You deal an additional 1d8 necrotic damage on a hit.
Forgotten God's Bane
You can cast guiding bolt at will, dealing necrotic damage instead of radiant.
As an action, you can call upon the power of the forgotten god. The rune on the scabbard begins to pulse, then suddenly turns bright white. The blades handle is suddenly new and soft and appears to be made of silk. The scabbard is fixed and airtight with gold and ivory inlays, and the silver cords braid themselves and are silver again. The blade is sleek and flexible, and shines with a holy radiance. For the next minute, the blade has the following properties:
- You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
- You score a critical hit on a 19-20.
- You deal an additional 2d8 radiant damage on a hit.
- You have advantage on attack rolls against undead, and undead have disadvantage on attack rolls made against you.
- Undead that start their turn within 5 feet of you take 1d10 radiant damage.
You regain use of this property again after a short or long rest.
