Monarch, Harpoon Rifle 2d8 force 12 lb. Two-Handed, Special, Range (60/240), Magical

Crafted from the corpse of a powerful fae monarch, this arcane rifle fires lances of raw magical energy and contains a tethered harpoon forged from the creature's own bone.

Special. The Monarch requires attunement by a spellcaster or a creature proficient in Arcana.

Arcane Barrage. The rifle deals 2d8 force damage on a hit. It does not require ammunition.

Chain of Command. As an action, you may fire the bound harpoon at a target within range. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier) or be tethered by the harpoon, taking 1d8 piercing damage.

While tethered:

  • All attacks with the Monarch automatically hit the target and deal 2d6 force damage.
  • This force damage increases to 3d6 at level 5, 4d6 at level 7, and 5d6 at level 9.
  • The tether lasts up to 1 minute, or until the target dies.
  • You may end the tether early as a bonus action, recalling the harpoon.

Only one creature may be tethered at a time. The harpoon retracts automatically upon the target's death.
