The harpos are rumored to be strange ovine humanoids that occupy the alps of the Regis Range in Premius. They are best known for their silence, which lends them an air of mystery and secrets.

A Cursed Origin[edit]

An ancient record known only to a few outside the harpos race itself is that the harpos were created from traitors within the bygone Eldresin Empire. These traitors were enemies of the Gwolkfurm ruling family. In the most damning portion of these records, these traitors were responsible for the paranoia of the White Witch, driving the king to commit atrocities and even ultimately try to summon the Uncreated to deal with the supposed coup occurring within his own realm. These traitors fled following the Ruinous Purge in 6,860 AP to what makes up the modern day border between Premius and Zesh. There, they hid within the Regis Range and plotted to rebuild their own Eldresin Empire from the ground up. However, the god Plegothos knew of their plan. Betrayal is one of Plegothos' most abhorred sins, and the god cursed these traitors, turning them into the harpos we know today. The transformation ingrained their sins into the memory of their entire race, along with the secret knowledge that their actions almost bought about the Uncreated invasion of Grisaire. It also bound all harpos to pacts of secrecy and lives dedicated to maintaining the world's hidden taboos that would repeat horrible tragedy once again.
