Broom Icon.svg.png This page needs grammatical help. Reason: 5e does not have a 'competency bonus', is this meant to mean proficiency bonus?

God Slayer[edit]

Prestige Class: God Slayer[edit]

The gods have had many centuries to create enemies. Evil gods are especially good at this, but sometimes even good gods can acquire enemies among the ranks of mortals. Most mortals never take action against the gods, for fear of their incredible powers. But for some, their will to take revenge against the gods for the wrongs they have experienced manifests in an energy that even the gods fear; Antithema. Whether a mortal becomes a God Slayer to kill good gods or evil gods, their powers manifest in the same way, the energy of the anti-divine.

Prerequisites[edit]

To qualify for multiclassing into the God Slayer class, you must meet these prerequisites:

-Character Level 12th:

To ever dream of fighting a divine being, one must be of significant strength before taking on the mantle of a God Slayer.

-Constitution 15:

To endure the kind of combat that comes with fighting deities, a God Slayer's body must be resilient.

-Martial Adept:

A God Slayer must be a master of martial combat to dream of taking on a god in single combat. A God Slayer must have at least 5 levels in any martial class (e.g. fighter, barbarian, etc.)

-Ablility to cast 2nd level arcane or divine spells:

To understand the flow of energy in the universe, and how to use the energies around them to fight deities, a God Slayer must have a solid understanding of the flow of magic power.

-Motivation:

Must have come into direct contact with a god or goddess, and have reason to come into conflict with the divine.

Continued Spellcasting[edit]

Choose one Spellcasting class that you already have levels in. Every time you gain a level in God Slayer, you are treated as having gone up a level in that class, but only for the purposes of learning new spells and gaining spell slots.

Anti-Divinity[edit]

Your ability to stand against the gods is unparalleled in other mortals. Whenever you are in combat with a god or goddess, you begin to emit Antithema, which is anti-divine energy.

While you emit Antithema, you are given a competency bonus equal to twice your God Slayer level. This bonus applies to all attack rolls made against a divine being, your AC against divine beings, and any save made to resist the effects of a spell or ability used by a divine being.

This competency bonus is also applied to any initiative rolls made when a god or goddess is also rolling initiative. If a god or goddess joins combat after initiative is rolled, the competency bonus is added to your previous total, which will take effect at the start of the next round.

Aura of Antithema[edit]

Your Aura of Antithema from the Anti-Divinity ability grows stronger as you do. Starting at 2nd level, when your aura is active, you can choose to spend Antithema Dice. You gain access to a number of Antithema Dice equal to your God Slayer level, plus the Spellcasting modifier from the class that you chose for the Continued Spellcasting ability. These dice are regained after a short rest.

Whenever you are attacked by a deity, or land an attack on a deity, you can choose to spend an Antithema Die. If you spend one upon taking a hit, you reduce the damage by five times the amount rolled on your die. If you choose to spend one upon landing an attack, you add damage to your attack equal to twice the number rolled on the die. This damage is added before critical damage is calculated, if damage is multiplied. If extra dice are rolled on crit, the Antithema Die is also rolled twice.

Truth of the Divine[edit]

A God Slayer has intimate knowledge of how to fight deities. Upon making a successful Religion check (DC determined by the DM), the God Slayer can gather information on a God, as if they had made an Investigation check in a grand library. If this ability is used during combat with a god or goddess, instead of general information, the God Slayer inspects how the god fights. Once per combat, as a bonus action, a God Slayer can make a Religion check to gain a +3 competency bonus on all attack rolls made against that god or goddess for the rest of combat.

Ability Score Increase[edit]

When you reach 4th level in God Slayer, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Additional Attack[edit]

At level 5, your combat prowess has reached greater heights, allowing you to move your blade with an enhanced degree of ferocity and speed. When you take the attack action, you can make an additional attack. This bonus is additive with the Extra Attack class feature, but can only be used when in combat with a deity.

Slayer of Divinity[edit]

You have reached the pinnacle of prowess in using Antithema to fight the Divine. When your aura of Antithema is active, the competence bonus is increased to four times your God Slayer level.

In addition, whenever an Antithema Die is rolled in response to talking damage from a deity, the damage from the attack is now reduced by half. If an Antithema Die is rolled in response to landing a hit on a deity, that attack deals an amount of extra damage equal to five times the number rolled on the die.
