Black Key (5e Equipment)
Weapon, common (minor) These long and slender rapier-like blades have over 1 meter in length and extremely short hilts. Despite their appearance, they are poorly balanced for melee use, being actually thrown weapons. They are not truly swords per se, but prayers made manifest - spiritual sacraments given physical form through magical energy, with handle made of pages of scripture hardened by faith. While being carried, only the handle is visible. Upon drawing the blade by a creature that has the spellcasting ability, a blade of energy is formed. These magical martial weapons have the light, finesse and thrown (20/60) property, and cause 1d6 radiant damage on a hit. Throws with this weapon can be made in a curved fashion, ignoring AC from cover below total. Spiritual Thrown. Clerics and paladins can use their spellcasting ability, rather than Dexterity, for attacks and damage rolls using this weapon. Banishing Strike. If a cleric or paladin with the channel divinity feature hit an ethereal, amorphous or incorporeal undead (such as shadows, specters and ghosts for example), that creature is turned as if targeted by the Turn Undead feature for clerics (or Destroy Undead if the cleric is of high enough level). Creating Black Keys. Black Keys can be crafted by using the Ceremony spell. |
