The vinegrown shambler is the first stage in the life of a vinegrown. The shambler when outside of its armor is a tiny four legged spider of thorny vines. It protects itself by crawling into a humanoid corpse. It unravels itself inside the corpse and controls it like a puppet. In combat it throws itself into the center of combat and withdraws from its armor and retreats.
While out of its corpse it is a vinegrown seedling with an Intelligence score of 2, a Wisdom score of 11 and the following feature:
Corpse Puppet. The vinegrown can spend 1 minute to crawl into the corpse of a humanoid and become a vinegrown shambler.
