Mistress of the Night[edit]

Warlock Subclass

Your patron is the Mistress of the Night, the divine entity of darkness. The Mistress has created a force of magic that resembles the raw natural magic, known as the Shadow Weave. As a part of your pact with her, the Mistress has bestowed upon the power to embrace and manipulate the dark counterpart of the natural magic. You are aware that as much as you use the Shadow Weave within you, the Shadow Weave uses you - and takes that as granted, for it is all part of the pact.

Mistress of the Night Expanded Spells

Mistress of the Night lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Adept of the Shadow[edit]

Starting at 1st level, you can channel your own life to fuel the Shadow Weave within you. As a bonus action, you can regain one expended warlock spell slot. If you do so, immediately after you regain the spell slot this way, you take necrotic damage equal to 3 times the level of spell slot you regained. This damage ignores resistance and immunity.

Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before you can use it again.

Weaver of the Shadow[edit]

Starting at 6th level, you can twist the Shadow Weave within you to suit your needs. You learn one Metamagic option from the list available to the sorcerer class. You can use this Metamagic option to a warlock spell you cast.

If you already have sorcery points, you gain three more. Otherwise, you have 3 sorcery points. These are used to fuel your Metamagic. You regain your expended sorcery points when you finish a long rest.

Tainted by the Shadow[edit]

Starting at 10th level, your body is attuned to the Shadow Weave to the point that it now sustains your life. You gain resistance to necrotic damage, and your hit point maximum cannot be reduced.

Additionally, you no longer need food or water to survive.

Master of the Shadow[edit]

Starting at 14th level, you have full control over the Shadow Weave within you, manipulating its flow for your purpose. You learn one additional Metamagic option, and gain four additional sorcery points to fuel your Metamagic. You can use only one Metamagic option on a spell when you cast it, unless otherwise noted.

Additionally, you can now channel the life from another creature to fuel the Shadow Weave within you. Whenever you reduce a hostile creature other than a construct or an undead to 0 hit points, you regain 3 sorcery points.

Variant: Point-Based Pact Magic Feature[edit]

When using the point-based Pact Magic variant rule, the following features replace Mistress of the Night subclass features you gain at 1st, 6th, and 14th level.

If you do so, immediately after you regain spell points this way, you take necrotic damage equal to three times the number of spell points you regained. This damage ignores resistance and immunity.

Once you use this feature, you must finish a short rest or long rest before you can use it again.

Weaver of the Shadow[edit]

Starting at 6th level, you can twist the Shadow Weave within you to suit your needs. You learn one Metamagic option from the list available to the sorcerer class. You can use this Metamagic option to a warlock spell you cast, and you spend your spell points instead of sorcery point to fuel your Metamagic.

Unique Eldritch Invocation[edit]

Disc of the Night (Prerequisite: The Night Mistress Patron, Pact of the Blade)

You can create a chakram with a jet-black blade using your Pact of the Blade feature. This weapon is the symbol of the Mistress of the Night, your patron and the creator of the Shadow Weave. When you hit a creature with it, you can expend a spell slot to deal an additional 1d8 necrotic damage to the target per spell level. This damage ignores the creature's resistance.

Shadow Double (Prerequisite: The Night Mistress Patron, 9th level)

You can cast mislead once using a warlock spell slot. You cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.

Shield of Shadows (Prerequisite: The Night Mistress Patron, 7th level)

You can cast private sanctum once using a warlock spell slot. You cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.

Shifting Shadows (Prerequisite: The Night Mistress Patron, 5th level, eldritch blast)

When you hit a creature with a eldritch blast cantrip, you can cast hypnotic pattern as a bonus action using a warlock spell slot. However, the spell must be centered on a creature you hit with eldritch blast.

Thrall of the Night (Prerequisite: The Night Mistress Patron, 15th level, eldritch blast cantrip)

When you kill a humanoid creature with your eldritch blast cantrip, it rises at the start of your next turn as a zombie that is permanently under your command, following your verbal orders to the best of its ability.

You can have a number of zombies equal to your Charisma modifier under your control with this invocation (a minimum of one). If you raise another zombie after that with this feature, a zombie chosen by the DM collapses into dust.

Veil of the Night (Prerequisite: The Night Mistress Patron, 9th level)

You can cast hallow once using a warlock spell slot. You cannot do so again until you finish a long rest. When you cast the spell this way, you can apply only darkness, energy vulnerability, fear, or silence with it.
