FEEDBACK[edit]

Giant block of text in there under Number One Contender is really not 5e compatible. 5e has an emphasis on simplicity and flexibility. That right there would fit much better in 3.5. I recommend swapping to a plain old increase in Unarmed Damage hit dice, let's say at level 1 or so it's a 1d4+PROF, then goes up to a 1d6, 1d8, 1d10, and then maybe a 1d12 if you want to get really nuts, all at appropriate levels. For the whole Wrestler angle you could say that you deal double damage dice against a target you're grappling, I think that scales fairly well, but it could still be unbalanced at higher levels, and I say that because a level 20 Fighter has 4 attacks per round, which with a longsword is 1d8+STR, four times. Actually if we assume STR is 3, that comes out to 36, whereas the Wrestler against a grappled target would do a max of 30, but at advantage because the target is grappled, iirc.

This is somewhat difficult, classes are not born and balanced in a day, but other potential options are giving the Wrestler Extra Attack at a certain level, granting them an extra attack against grappled opponents instead of doubling damage dice, and other such things. There needs to be some method in there to balance the class against larger opponents, because otherwise you're useless when a dragon swoops in (I believe you have disadvantage on grapple checks against creatures larger than you, I'd need to look it up.) Perhaps the giant block of text in the Number One Contender heading could be preserved, and revamped into several maneuvers a la Battlemaster, one or more of which are meant for removing the inherent disadvantage one has against larger creatures? The name "The Bigger They Are" comes to mind. Another idea for a maneuver is a sort of counter-grapple, wherein on a successful check, you can not only escape a grapple, but place your enemy into a grapple simultaneously. That one might be better as a class feature.

For the capstone ability, we can take vague inspiration from the Paladin class - a short and incredibly strong burst of power. Perhaps constant Advantage on any grapple checks made while the ability is active, along with some stat boosts for the duration, or some other effect.

For the Belt, I would recommend turning it into an item, perhaps with three differing rarities. I believe on the Discord server we discussed slots on the belt in which one places carved trophies of defeated enemies, each trophy giving a small boost to a stat, to AC, or some other effect. The most common belt would likely have either three or five slots, for purposes of a well-balanced progression between them I'd say five, with four 'Small' trophies and one 'Medium' trophy. The next belt would have two Small, three Medium, and the last would have two Small, two Medium, and one Large. Small trophies would likely give some miniscule advantage, perhaps only a bonus to ability checks or saving throws. Medium trophies may be strong enough to give a +1 increase to a stat, and the Large one would give a +2 to a stat, or an equivalently powerful effect. The effect of said trophy would depend on multiple factors, including what the trophy was sourced from, and what aspect of said source the Wrestler is trying to embody by carrying said trophy.

That's about all I've got, I would say more but I've Wall-Of-Text'd you hard enough for now and my brain is french fries. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 10:18, 9 August 2020 (MDT)

More Subclass Perhaps?[edit]

Hello - I was wondering; has there ever been the idea of perhaps adding some more subclasses?

If anything - You could go for Catch Wrestling as a Submission-Focus Subclass, Pankration/MMA as a Strike-Focus Subclass and maybe some sort of magic-style/transformation-based subclass. Say something similar to Kinnikuman manga franchise given its superhuman characters or Tekken with a realistic but video-game style fighting system with characters such as King, Armor King and Marduk.

I don't wanna start working on something when folks have busted their ass on the general idea for the class even if it's on a public platform. DNDGuy3232 (talk)

Since I haven't recieved anything... I'm just gonna leave something there for now and just wait to see what happens. DNDGuy3232 (talk)
