Talk:Vasharan (5e Race Variant)

This is my first submission to the site. I obviously don't know how to format stuff yet. Anyway, while I realize that having a higher proficiency bonus than any other character is an insane racial feature, but I wanted this race to be on par with Yuan-ti Purebloods, Half-elves, and Variant Humans. And, in reality, this ability is really just a more flexible version of the +2 that most races get anyway. Anyway, PEACH this?Rlc (talk)

I've given some feedback on the page. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 07:46, 21 February 2019 (MST)
What if I make it 1/day at 1st level and 3/day at 3rd level? rlc 11:58 February 21, 2019 (EST)
I would say, why not just make it advantage? The system was introduced to avoid bookkeeping of how many +'s you get from other things after all. The trait would be worded like this: "Human Determination. When you fail an ability check, attack roll or saving throw you can reroll the dice and take the new result. You cannot use this trait again until you complete a long rest." Giving them another ability score improvement would be good too. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 11:33, 21 February 2019 (MST)
Honestly, I wanted to make them a bit more distinct than that, but I guess it works. I'll change it to that for now. rlc 14:48, February 21, 2019 (EST)
Actually, would also adding something along the lines of disadvantage not canceling out advantage 1/long rest be too powerful? rlc 15:06 Feb 21, 2019 (EST)
Not sure what you mean. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 14:00, 21 February 2019 (MST)
Advantage and disadvantage cancel each other out normally. I'm proposing an ability where, once a day, it doesn't. Although, looking at it again, this specific wording doesn't mention anything about advantage or disadvantage, so I guess maybe it kind of already does that. rlc 16:27 feb 21 2019 est
It would yes. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 03:37, 22 February 2019 (MST)
Well, thank you for your help.
Actually, one last question: should I change "reroll the dice" to "reroll the die?" Because if you had disadvantage before, rerolling the dice might mean that you have to reroll with disadvantagerlc 16:00 feb 22, 2019 (est)
You're right it should be "die" instead of "dice". —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 04:16, 23 February 2019 (MST)
