The disadvantage on all those skills is for DMs who purposely use other skills to subvert it like making a PER then an INV check instead because they dont want the Rogue to escape and the basis was not clearly worded I meant the check to know who the rogue was was at disadvantage but then you can make a check after once you do know to know WHY you know him.

Essentially the 4 skill check thing is to avoid meta abuse and purposely picking skills which aren't mentioned. Plus it replaces a saving throw proficiency and a 15th level ability. Times where getting caught can be an extreme if not fatal setback. Also when will this benefit a LG Rogue or a travelling rogue? this is for campaigns where there is a recurring city because if I said "disadvantage on perception check to" what's to stop a DM from making an Invest or History check abusing metagaming? --XenoOutlier (talk) 13:14, 7 July 2018 (MDT)

Thanks for the reply. To quote this page here, balancing is to get to the point where your content can be used by any DM and in any campaign. You may have had a bad experience with an over-controlling DM, which I apologize for, but that doesn't mean you need to buff your content to levels that make it unplayable in other games. In the games that I play, the DM is far less controlling than your experiences, so rather than balancing out a DM's poor decisions your content would skew the balance of power. The risk of a rogue getting caught is there for a reason, and in order to keep the game interesting it needs to be respected. Thanks for your consideration, and happy writing! :)

I changed it I will admit my first game was a bad experience so i permanently have an air of Anti-DM paranoia but honest to god I'm not trying to be OP I'm just trying for consistency because I know just because of reliable talent my DM kept screwing me over making very high leaps of logic to make NPCs suspicious of me. Such as making 1 check. Then making another till he expends all the skills. Like "Well they're suspicious because you have a cloak on. Yeah, I'm really sorry to hear that, man. That's something you definitely gotta discuss with your DM. It does seem he's over-controlling. Just know that all pages on the wiki are viewed at a neutral standpoint, regardless of the context or the creator's reason for making it. I know you weren't trying to make overpowered stuff but please refrain from making pages as a remedy for problems with the DM. That's something you gotta talk to him about.
