Talk:Jedi/Sith (5e Class)

This is a beef I have with the other Jedi class as well, but why does it take so long to craft a lightsaber? In the Clone Wars, we see younglings craft lightsabers in seconds with nothing more than concentration and the force, so why does it take upwards of 25 hours to create them in this class? It can't be for balancing reasons, because since the players control the game, the Jedi in the party can just convince everybody to spend some downtime making it. Also, because they get this at level 1, there is a strong chance the will already have it when the campaign begins. Even if the time is the estimated time to track down a Kyber crystal, that seems like a thing the DM would include as an actual quest instead of just being a class feature. This can lead to some great role-playing moments, but most DMs already have this stuff planned out. Tl;Dr Lightsaber construction times are stupid, and I'd like your permission to remove them and replace them all with 1-hour construction that requires concentration. --PickleJarPete (talk) 15:43, 16 January 2020 (MST)

How about lightsabers be buffed a **little** bit because right now a greatsword is the best damage a force user can get. A normal greatsword. Not to mention enchants.

The Saberstaff deals more damage than a greatsword. If you think "enchants"(which don't exist in 5th edition, you are thinking of magic items) cause lightsabers to get outclassed, make magical lightsabers. There's definetly a few generic items(like flame tongue) which can be applied to any weapon, but if you want to make special versions attached to these, go wild. Nobodies gonna stop you. --SwankyPants (talk) 08:37, 5 January 2021 (MST)

I infact meant magic items, and i was talking about how great weapon master makes a greatsword far outclass a lightsaber in damage, which i thought was dumb personally. Regaurdless, I thought the point was there was no magic item lightsabers so they're a little stronger.
