Balance[edit]

Any character that takes this cantrip can provide infinite healing to any amount of characters between battles, because outside of combat cantrips can be cast as often as one wishes. This cantrip single-handedly all but negates all need for Hit Dice, most need for short rests, potions of healing, and other normally vital resources. Any healing spell should be at least 1st level, so it requires a spell slot to be consumed and thus can't be cast infinitely without consuming significant resources. - Guy (talk) 20:45, 23 June 2017 (MDT)

I changed it to a 1st-level spell- it's balanced fine for that level. The person who created this hasn't made much on the wiki, so I took the liberty of doing that. --AngelsAndAarakocra (talk) 04:29, 3 July 2017 (MDT)

The reason I changed it to a 1st-level spell is because there are currently two 1st-level official single-target healing spells. Healing Word, with a range of 60 feet and 1d4 + spellcating modifier healing, and Cure wounds, with a range of touch and 1d8 + spellcasting modifier healing. Therefore, it makes sense for a healing spell with a range of 30 feet to restore 1d6 + spellcasting modifier hit points. It's not so useful for a backline healer, but for War/Tempest/Life Domain Clerics and College of Valor Bards it's very viable as a moderately powerful but ranged healing spell. It has a place in the game, it doesn't outshine other spells of it's level (and isn't worse than them), and it's balanced, so it's basically fine. Also, I made a cantrip a while back that does what you've updated this to do. --AngelsAndAarakocra (talk) 03:50, 11 September 2017 (MDT)

I would reduce the range even further to 10 or 15 ft. In most environments (typical dungeon room) the range difference between 30 and 60 foot is negligible (compared to the improved hit point restoration). You also need to specify that hit points are recovered (not just "you are healed") Marasmusine (talk) 04:57, 11 September 2017 (MDT)
Good point. I think 15 feet will be best, personally. --AngelsAndAarakocra (talk) 05:21, 11 September 2017 (MDT)
