Talk:Goldweaver's Ray (5e Spell)

I feel like this was better balanced with the d8s. I would not prepare this on any character as it stands; the full-turn action holds it back too much. Every enemy who sees you charging this will have a turn to scatter for cover or focus you/break your concentration before it goes off, so it seems like it will be pretty rare for the damage to actually go through. Compare it to a 5th level Fireball for 10d6, which fires off reliably in one action and at a longer range. Maybe 5 attacks at 2d8? That's 80 damage max vs 72 as it stands and 96 as it was. Eh, sure. I was iffy about the change initially, I don’t see much issue with putting it back. --SwankyPants (talk) 13:12, 31 March 2021 (MDT)
